Just when you thought that there couldn't possibly be any more 24 hour races this year, along comes 24 Hour MUC (7/8 June 2003, Dunscombe Park, North Yorkshire).

It's described as "the ultimate 24 event of 2003" although pedants will point out that it's actually the second one in the calendar. The course is on the private estate of Dunscombe Park, and is 12km (7.5 miles) long with 300m (thick end of 1,000ft) of climbing and hence descending per lap. All mod cons are promised, including hot showers and plenty of sideshows and attractions to keep non-riders amused.

For more information, visit www.24hrmuc.co.uk (beware - needs Flash 6, may cause motion sickness...)

Rick, you student bum! any idea what the course is like? I fancy it but it's close to the RB which I'm also hoping to do (and the SITS!), basically I want to know what it'd be like as a soloist... Cheers!

couple of points 1) I was vaguely something roughly to do with an NPS round run at Duncombe Park way back in the early '90s. I remember the ground being unbelievably claggy. I think it took Chipps about three weeks to do one lap. 2) Is that website done by the same people who did the Pace website do you think :-)

If any ones camping/ caravaning over the event i would recomend Golden Square Caravan Park in Oswaldkirk (spitting distance from Helmsley) it has a shop and nice clean toilets the showers run on 20p pieces (which is a bit harsh but they do work rather well to clean the bike (Yes i did :o) http://www.goldensquarecaravanpark.com/

Theres camping sites provided i think? at least - there are passes for two tents per team provided with the entry fee if its near helmsley its likely to have some height difference. was 300m per lap mentioned somewhere i've entered it solo... ooops

The web site is currently being updated to include a course profile and sponsors details. The ground can get tough in the serious wet however should be fine in June!! Keep an eye out for updates - www.24hrmuc.co.uk
