Excellent news!
I was all set to send thie link to the bad news to some of my riding buddies down south, and suggest an impromptu tribute ride in the next week or so, but now...
We can go back anytime! Hurrah!
However, does anyone know if Buckingham Bikes will be keeping up the XC circuit as well as the DH tracks?
That really would be the only reason I'd go back. Downhill hurts too much (all that pushing uphill and falling off...);-)

That is brilliant news.

I was told today it was closing, then I come home and find this.

I hope Bucks Bikes do some maintenance on the jumps on 4X and DH3 as they're looking a little tired.

Well let's hope my experience of the Aylesbury shop isn't a reflection of how Aston Hill will be managed.

Bad experiences I take it Mike?

And you from Aylesbury?

I'm about 10 miles away Tom. Only one experience of BB's, staffed by spotty oiks who won't give you the time of day if you want to ride anything other than a BMX. Probably because they don't have the brain capacity to deal with anything else.

That was 4 years ago but I don't have the need or inclination to give them a second chance.

I'm surprised to hear bad news about BB, Only ever heard good reviews about them before today. I've never bought from them, but would trust them more so than my more local lbs as my mum recommends them!

As I said, that was 4 years ago. Maybe they've got their act together?

If you've only heard good things then someone else will come along to defend them, maybe.

I've never heard anything really bad about them.

Do you ride at Aston ever? Wondering if I've seen you there.

A few times, to be honest there's better less ridden stuff nearer my back door.

In my experience I thought they were OK.

Some nice kit in there to ogle and stare at and doesn't feel like some ones watching you the whole time like it does in my LBS.

Of the staff I met in there the chap I talked to was really good knew his stuff-as did I so we had quite a long chat about the Scott range and the Spark particular. Let us weigh up the Scale 30 I think it was and compare with the ransom. Seemed genuinely interested in bikes and loved them.

If they were closer then my LBS wouldn't get any of my business.

They're ok.

I buy probably half my stuff from them.

I've just bought a Hope wheelset from them, same price as the online boys, and had a Hope Headset put on my XC bike - didn't charge for fitting.

They have a separate workshop, with easy parking, too.

PR disaster or what?!!

With the long relationship between IW and BB you'd have thought that between them they could have managed this a little better - nevermind the lack of info from the FC. Not sure this inauspicious start bodes well for the future of 'The Hill' - your relief may be temporary!

PR disaster?

In what way?

As far as I see it Aston Hill keeps going and Bucks Bikes get praised for saving the Hill so get more custom. Doesn't look like a disater from here.

I think he means the way it has been handled?

Yeah maybe.

Still its going to be said that BB saved the Hill at the last minute. I don't see it.
