 Average darts. And butt ugly!

I don't like the way all the carbon bikes have to be over built around the head tube. That's a bit of a dogs dinner. Won't slow him down though.
I'm pretty sure that all that stuff around the head tube is mostly what makes it such a splendid ride ;-)
looks like an up-side-down AirWolf. I like it.
the kit on that is fairly standard xc fare!
i was expecting some insanely light stuff!

in the spesh S-works brochure they have a picture os Sauser on his Epic. the caption says
Christoph Sauser and his 19.64lb were the first to cross the finish line at the mount st anne UCi world cup
Now that's light.

1350g a pair for MTB wheels - is that right? That is very, very light for a Road wheel let alone a MTB wheel are those figures correct? If they are that certainly isn't average XC stuff as wheels that light would accelerate like shit off a shovel.
that is right. I checked out Mark thwaites wheels which are similar and they feel lighter than Ksyrium SLs.
my wheels are <1300g (not including tyres obviously)
My wheels are round and strong and I don't really care how much they weigh ;)

I wonder if those bikes in the background leaning against his team van are going to be his enduro rides?
Wouldn't have thought it'll make a difference what bike he rides - if he does the Builth Merida he'll get whooped like he has done the past couple of times by the local lads!

would be funny to think he rides dutch style bikes now and again. I think, however the photo was taken at the belfry, for the 07 full range bike launch.

'he'll get whooped like he has done the past couple of times by the local lads'
I imagine he'll give them a sound thrashing at an XC race though! I also imagine he could make them look very very silly if he wanted to train for that sort of thing!
He came past me at several NPSs last year, and he's got some quick legs! Puts in into perspective when you see where he finishes in World Cups though, scary stuff!
And Stan: figures are definitely correct, it's not that light, Stans do selected rims that are <300g, although they won't actually admit to it. Combined with some silly hubs you can get sub 1200g disc wheelsets.
Crossmax/Ksyriums are faily weighty anyway, not a very good yardstick for lightweight wheels!
nick, what'll your tune/stans set come to?
I'll throw them on the scales tomorrow and tell you :-)
My rims are quite heavy (352g & 347g IIRC), so they won't be mentally light.

"My rims are quite heavy - 352g and 347g".. Nick you are the weight weenie king! My rims are 400g but my i9 wheels weigh in at a nice 1410. I do find those crossmax SLRs funny.. oodles of riders at XC races have paid £675!!!! for a set of wheels which you can build lighter than and also more adaptable than for half the price.. As for Oli's bike a mainstream beauty lets hope he keeps up the level he's been hinting at for a few years.
Nick - help me out here, what Road wheels do you ride then if 1350g a pair is not light?
A pair of Dura Ace wheels/Ksyriums ES will be heavier than that - the only ones I know of that are as light are carbon tubs?
BTW How light are your MTB race wheels and what are the made from - rims/spokes and hubs etc?
Bontrager XXX Lites: 1120g for the pair (although admittedly carbon, and tubs). It's rather like the MTB thing, people look at Ksyriums and judge everything by that. You can easily build the equivalent to Oli's wheels in a 700c guise. Say, Tune Mig/Mag, or DT Swiss Hugi 190s, CX-Rays and some really light rims (I forget what's around in clincher), I think Rigida do/did some very light ones, and DT do some pretty light ones. Like these for example.

I said it's not THAT light, as in, it's not unbelievable, not 'that's clearly a misprint'
