"75km circuit"?????

Both mine and my mates speedos both said nearly 60miles, thats more like 90km. And I'm pretty sure we didn't take any detours.

Brilliant though and definatly do it again.

Mm, I'm sure the Freeraid I did was 60-odd miles. The hills are quite steep, though, so if you measure it on a flat map it probably looks like 75km ;-)

According to my GPS we did 95km. We did a short detour in Avoriaz (OK, we got lost) and that includes uptime on the chairlifts...
We also skipped the 10km loop to Torgon and back, partly because we couldn't find it and partly because we were running out of time.
As the thunderstorm hit as we were loading the car in Champéry I didn't regret missing that loop at all..:-)

Well done on missing the Torgon (should be titled Torturegone in celebration of when it was over). An extra bundle of miles that involved one long downhill on the road and then a long uphill on fire roads followed by a small singletrack traverse in a foot deep rut, a nigh on impossible rocky downhill then more climbing on the road.

Joy!

Sounds lovely - glad I missed it!

I've ridden a lot of the course in past years, it's just my kind of riding, especially when dry!

I quite fancy doing the whole thing some time...

I've always wanted to have a go at this... How do you enter?

Just had a look on the website via the link on the artical, this sounds great.

€34 to enter, what about £20, bargin.

I'm sure there will be camp sites around there?

Roll on next year.

I did it in a party of six, didn't finish due to burnt brakes and broken spokes, but truly an amazing ride.

We stayed at the Boomerang in Les gets which is great fun, nice hotel, friendly good bar and bike shop.

Will definetely be back next year but with a more down hill orientated bike and a bit more prep

Can this be done without the actual race? I missed it this year, applied too late and plane tickets had rocketed.
Are the lifts open to bikers when the race isn't on?

Yes, you can do this without the organisation. The lifts are open to bikes and when I was last there, I think the ticket for all the lifts in the area for the day (unlimited use) was around the £15-£20 mark. Very good value. The Portes du Soleil is an excellent place for MTB holidays :D
