Ever wondered where the 5in-travel bike was in Giant's Maestro line-up? Here it is

Trance x
I want one!

There's a lot of choice coming through in the 120mm travel market, that's for sure.

Was there a shortage of choice?

hmm...where does that leave the 2007 "watered down" (imo) reigns?! I think the reign should have a proper bolt thru fork etc; seems a bit daft to have a 6'' QR-forked trail bike and a 5''er..

mmmm...new reign!...nice albeit a bit spesh-like! ..needs a bigger fork too..

What with this and Spesh, is pot-bellied hydroforming the new black?

Looks like a nice bike though and the "non-decal decals" sound smart too.

120 both ends was actually not as common as you might think, largely because Fox didn't do a 120mm fork ;-)

They fudged one for the 05 stumpy comp as I remember : P

Bendy down tubes - reminds me of my mums old shopping bike - not an attractive look IMO

yeah, I know what you mean..especially in that horrible brown colour that's very popular all of a sudden. Half expect to see a big hinge half way down the down tubes as per "mum's folding shopper" bike...

I agree, not keen on them bendy bits.

Aye DK - a bit to much architectural input with the curves!

Nice and straight - thats how engineers like things!
I like, always like the reign also, better rear suspension system than the FSR IMO, unless the FSR's got some kinda brain.

Had the original trance now for 2 years - great bike, only fault being the shitty bearings on the back link arm which disintegrate every 6 months.

Maybe a tad heavy as well come to think of it.

I've heard about a few issues with the bearings, I think they're the same as the one's on my Reign which are still perfect..bit odd really..

The 2007 Stumpy Comp has a Fox Float 120. Test rode one last week. Was recommended the Trance while on the test ride funnily enough, by someone one a Reign. Was gonna get the Stumpy but the Trance X sounds like the bike I want!!...confused again now....

whens it out?

Looks like this might be just the job as/when my VT disintegrates. Always did wonder why Giant stopped making their most popular 5" - (nearly) 6" travel bike, which seemed to clean up both mag awards and readers' plaudits.
While the VT isn't too lardy, I did have a go a couple of years back on the Trance and, though I thought the handling was very good, it just didn't seem to be as good at climbing as my VT. If they've dropped it down now to near Anthem weight >and< got the travel up to 5", that's some achievement.
Hmmm....

brown? who cares what colour as long as its good!

still not anyone with an idea when its being launched?

Brown rocks! Actually, it rocks so hard that it rocks twice!

Seriously though, I'm a fan of the Maestro system and this looks like it's going to hit several spots.
