I was a race marshall on this course at the cones section of it. During the qualifying runs riders were told not to go around the cones on the wrong side. Myself and another marshall both saw Sam Hill on his first run go over the cone on the wrong side which we then called in. He should have been disqualified from the race for this as other riders were (or so I have been told). We were questioned about our decision and other marshals agreed with us that he had missed the course. But they let him off! His sponsors and team were pissed big time. He new he had messed up. I could see it on his face.
