perhaps Stans sealant, and a notubes kit might be a good purchase

how crazy is that to go to all the preperation trouble and not use some form of tubeless and/or sealant.

Seconded.  I've used stans for 4 years and not had a flat on the trail.  It still puzzles me as to why more racers don't use it.  I keep hassling my fellow adventure racers, but the penny doesn't seem to drop.  It really pisses me off when they are in my team and puncture, theres no excuse for it, and I have to wait for them.

I've just finished Ironman UK which included 112 miles on a time trial bike with the lightest and thinnest tubular tyres weighing just 190g.  I had 20g of stans in each Tub though and 5 miles before the bike finish I heard the dreaded psssss... Stans sealed it (dropping from just 130 to 100psi) and it saved me a good 5 mins in the race - and that was just the puncture I was aware of.  Loads were puncturing including the leaders, go figure....

David,  a Mate did the Iron man, sounds NUTS,  he came either 400 or low 400's,  wasn't to sure, where did you come ??

14months no punctures,  he got unlucky quite a few times, should do it easy next attempt with Slime tubes.

Hi Ian

I was one of the guys riding SDW in a Day that you chatted to about the punctures and then passed on the hills above Kingston during your return stage.

We made it - but after wittnessing your speed - full respect.

Good luck for your next attempt.
