Fantastic looking bike IMO.

And whats wrong with it looking like an older muddyfox? One of the best bike I have owned was the Alu Team similar design to that SC.

Bet if you rode it now though, it would be pants in comparison.

I like the Chameleon, think it looks purposeful and the hydroforming is subtle and purposeful - as opposed to the current trend of rammed down your throat and for aesthetics.

Loving the army green too.

I've got a Pace RC303 at the moment, so I can't be too cruel about the aesthetics of other hardtails. The new Chameleon hasn't suffered from curvy frame syndrome as badly as some other bikes in Santa Cruz's range.

I'm not convinced about the way the chainstay curves downwards after leaving the seat tube, but it may look fine in real life. I could be tempted by an XL one in ganggreen.

I reminds me of a dog taking a dump.

-get rid of the mirrors, then!

Have you noticed how dogs twitch and shuffle forwards when taking a dump?

Its because they like to admire the length of their creations, and make sure the other dogs know just how big they are.
not sure about the curve in the seatstay...

Oi!  The shitting dog comment is mine, made about a fuck ugly humpback Nomad that Guy Kesteven was riding with us in the Peaks when reviewing it for WhatMTB.

Hands off my 15 mins of fame Commie!

Sorry, I am merely a 4 assed lemming.

I've never seen a dog with wheels that big

Glad that the silly drop outs of old have gone - I had a Mark II and currently have an 07 one and the horizontal dropouts are a pain. Obviously I see there use for single speed, but I run gears and its annoying!

Doesn't loo too bad either - not sure about the curved seat stays. It'll ride well though - I love mine - not too heavy but still strong, quick but not as harsh as the sub zero it replaced. Good to see that SC are still tweaking classic bikes.

Looks nice, although that pierced seat-tube/top-tube/seat-stay thing reminds me of the old aluminium Grisley MTB's

I remember the old shiny red Grisley's.  Man they were chunky.
