D'oh, another Bikemagic article that doesn't mention the date of the event!!! (As per the SPAM Biking Winter Challenge one too)

Where the f*ck did that go? The version on my PC's got the date in it. Stupid computers.

Yes, 13 April. It's in there now.

To be honest i found this ride when i did it last year a bit dull with just lots of lanes and wide bridleways.

'twas originally organised/listed as a Reliability Ride and when you see some of the bikes there - tourers/cyclo-cross bikes - that are used you see that this is one of the original Enduro's.

The one time I did it was on a CX bike, which was mostly just the tool for the job although a slight handful on one of the descents off Cleeve Hill

see i did it on my planet X armadillo with 2.5 blue groove tyres, to be honest they were slightly draggy on all the roads and trails, bridleways and hills. may hev been good if it had been wet but as it was bone dry, hard and smooth i could have done it on slicks.

It was dampish when I did it. You wouldn't want 2.5in tyres round there under any conditions, though

to be honest the route that they took us on even in the yet would be fine using a summer tyre or one of those low profile nobble jobs.
But i did the 50, i can`t imagine doing 100K on what was last year one of the hottest days of the year.

Quite so. Like I say, I was using 35mm CX tyres . Although, to be fair, I did get a pinch flat on account of having to take to the ruts to get around a bunch of people with FS and fat tyres hogging the smooth line ;-)

'cross bikes always look appealing for that event.

Mm. They make an awful lot of sense for it. Great on the road sections and smoother tracks, entertaining everywhere else
Show/hide user stats
IIRC they'd only be a handful in a couple of sections depending on whatever route they use.

that was the one bit that my tyres were good, the first big desent off from some bridleway down a field edge into some trees and onto a road, everyone else was a bit slow, i just went flat out DH styleeee.

oh and the last bit which was a long desent back to the start on some loose double track.
