do you need proof of original purchse? In which case 'chasing something from ebay and then doing the exchange might be a way forward.

I was wondering the same.. although it'd be good to know what value they place on what frames of what age etc,.... ?
Yeah you need proof. The deals can be quite good, probably get £600-£800 for my 07 Prophet frame, I'm considering trading it in for a carbon Rush TBH. Though I probably won't.

Seems like they are trying to drum up business, is it the sign of a failing company who didn't keep there eye on the ball with bike design
On the contrary XCman they've turned a corner, rave reviews abound of the Rush and Prophet. They've had the trade in system for years.
Might have to try one although I've never been a fan of swing arm bikes as IMO they just dont have the edge for keeping the rear wheel glued to the ground when climbing, as does a Horst link design.
they have a frame exchange policy because loads of their frames snap - thats why they're called 'crack n' fail' (lights touchpaper, and steps back...)
anyone know which uk bike shops are participating in the frame replacement scheme? Is it just me being stupid or are there no uk stores listed?
Checked with my LBS at lunch and it's still gonna cost me a grand to trade in for a carbon Rush 2, so bollox to that.

Dont diss the c-dale for offering an exchange program. How many other manufacturers offer this - no they just expect you to buy another complete frame or bike. Been riding a c-dale in one form or another for over 10years and never cracked one - if you have you must be riding like a muppet.
I broke my Scalpel and the f@ckers wouldn't replace it - they said that I had not been using it within its 'design parameters' i.e. I took it for a jump - is that riding like a muppett? See this months MBR as they seem to have had a similar problem.

Did you tell them you'd jumped it?
The old Scalpel must be the most fragile full suss ever, I wouldn't be jumping it! It's for XC whippets only. You didn't tell them that you'd jumped it did you?
My CAAD4 hardtail cracked on the monostay and they replaced it no problem at all.
I've been running a CAAD4 since 2001 - put a huge dent in the down tube the day after I got it - Gutted! landed on a shap edged parking bollard after the crappy coda spds decided not to let me go! It's run fine ever since despite being thrown off/down steps on the odd ocassion and generally being punished from time to time! M@

I seem to recall Cannondale offering a program like this since. Well. Forever. In one way or another. It's a good deal and a lot of bike companies (Yes Trek, I'm looking at you) should implement something like this as an incentive to riders to stick with a brand. I've always known Cannondale to be fair & pretty liberal with interpretation of their warranty rules so if they refused to replace your Scalpel you must have done something WELL outside what it was designed to take. It sucks but they have to protect themselves. I'll keep this 'new' deal in mind when it's time to trade in my F3

Anything to do with the fact Cannondale have been bought by a Canadian company? click
Just what we need in the bike business - another mega corp.
Cue generic bikes across the ranges, shared design platforms. Could explain why we haven't really seen any MAJOR innovations from Cannondale in a while.
I miss the good old days of Roberts, Fuquay, DeKerf. Small stuff but really lust worthy. It all seems to be about growth now.
*ahem* sorry. Got a bit off topic there!

Anything to do with the fact Cannondale have been bought by a Canadian company? Hmm. Does that mean we'll be seeing an I-Drive Prophet, then? Maybe Dylan'll buy one (as long as it's a 69'er version)!!
It used to be the case that they had a price list for frames on the exchange program, IE a Rush would cost you £700 for whatever you cared to exchange. It didn't have to be a Dale frame you exchanged, the exchange for my Optimo was a crashed Scott road frame. They may have changed things now though.
