Yeah well I read about this ages ago on si..... Wow that Moto is p to the r to the i .......pricey Starting at £2700, ouch, and still 33.5lbs

Yeah and all that luvverly complex linkagery, just waiting to get covered in nice gritty grinding filth and jetwashed to death. The 66.6 headtube is a complete farce of marketing and for that reason alone I wouldn't buy this bike (even if it suited me and I won a small fortune in cash).

I quite like the Moto. Its the sort of thing i might go for next, however i know i'll do what i usually do when i've looked at Cannondales, sit on it, bounce about a bit, look at the price tag and notice what i can get for that money from other manufacturers is far better specced. Three time's i've been on the verge of handing over a big wedge of cash for a 'dale and changed my mind last minute.

Mmmmmmmmmmm sub 28lbs 160mm bike....................... That costs well over a grand more than my DH bike - eeeek!

So I've been saving up for a Prophet. But Cannondale replaces the Prophet, with a Freeride bike that looks more complicated and costs more than my car and a lightweight Rush type-thing. Neatly leaving a gap in travel and purpose where the Prophet used to sit. Time to buy a Marin then...

Lovin the moto very much my kinda bike - like the black not sure about the kawazaki green , are they actually on sale yet , any demo rides available , Any magazine done a propper test yet ????

Have a look on the Cannondale website - they haven't actually dropped the Prophet. The '08 Prophet 2 is a hell of a bike for 1400 quid - shouldn't take too much saving for

booooya
Though you can do a very light build on an SC Heckler for about 2k...

But a 'dale is less common a sight nowadays. And spotty teens reading MB(f)U(c)K hate it "...'coz Peaty ain't ridin' no Cannondale..." which is a reason good enough for me to own one
That is always a bonus, but to be honest, you'd be daft not to buy the best bike for the money purely for image, and to be honest I could not give a shit about the opinions of any of the readership of MBUK. A Santa Cruz is a Santa Cruz!!
And a Cannondale in always a Cannondale. Similar in many ways, less common, sturdier than a Heckler and cheaper. And more adaptable - mine has a custom setup with 1point5 Manitous, which I always wanted. Heckler? Nope...
Why would you want Manipoos on your bike? IMO they're less common because they're not as good having ridden both.
I've had other forks but like the Manitous best. Bombers were too heavy and expensive, Fox not reliable enough, broke a Rockshox fork crashing. Besides, if you try riding German Alps the best tech support (if needed) you'll get from Manitou and Magura dealers. BTW, the only fork I could change my Shermans for would be Magura Rond stuff.
I wouldn't touch Manitou's until I was happy with their reliability, but when they are working they are bloody great. When!
They have been for ages, all 3 of them (Black Super, Nixon Comp and Sherman Breakout). If it makes me lucky I'll take it. Got them cheap (less than £200 for all), ride 6 days a week, crash at times, service them myself and they're consistent. Works for me 24/7/365.

Talk about thread drift - we're now arguing about suspension forks! I had a test ride on a prophet only a few weeks ago, just out of interest, and thought it was a really excellent bike. Speaking to the Cannondale rep, he said they had no plans on dropping it at the moment as it was a good seller. These new models will mean that you will probably get a good price on the Prophet. I think these new bikes look very interesting. I'm not worried about linkages at all - if the bearings are well designed then linkage bikes can go with less maintainance than poorly designed single pivot bikes. I know people of a certain other bike manufacture mentioned not far from here who are always having to fettle with their bearings, so to speak. I'm very interested in how Carbon fairs long term on such a machine. It's going to bet bashed, dropped and scraped around on rock. 28lbs on a 160mm frame is interesting...

We aren't arguing, we are having a polite chat Carbon fibre on a bike to be crashed heavily? I spoke to a Scott rep last Autumn, he said no worrise about it. My decision? Steel/ti for a hardtail, alu for a full sus, CF for handlebars. The number of piwots sholdn't be a problem, 'Dales are well-made, but why complicate issues?

If we all thought like that then would we even have the wheel......... sorry, sounding like my dad there.
As for the Manitous, if you've been lucky with them, then fair play.
