My suggestion wasn't rubbish That is a ridiculously pretty bike. When are you guys getting one on test?
bit of a bugger as the comp form for naming the bike is still on there website. My suggestion was pretty good as well.
My (late) suggestion is "Broke neck mountain...bike" Looks like someone rode into a wall then welded it up again! Only my opinion of course.
I want to get my hands on the 29er 5.5 they've just put on the site.
I must say I'm very surprised they named it Tracer.
Went out with a girl called Trace once, she went like the hinge on the privy door. Bless.
I would call it the VPL! Gussets like that!
That one in the pic looks like it's got the Pre-production back end... Still want one though. I like that barn door engineering look of gussets everywhere

If the frame is actually £1200 then Extra might see some decent sales, up until now Intense frames in the UK have been typically £1600+ my 6.6 was £1800

I'm willing to wager they got that £1200 from converting the US price to Sterling. If it goes on sale for £1200 I will eat DK's chammy.

hmm, I think I'd like one. In orange. Angles seem a bit more sensible than the 6.6 and the it doesn't weigh as much as the made-from-lead 6.6 SS....
Keeping in mind it's not designed to take the same abuse as a SlopeStyle bike According to the Wrench Science bike builder you can get the 5.5 built up to weigh 23lbs... be interesting to see what they make of this one!

Hmmmm, can someone explain this to me? How come they've made this new Tracer with a head-angle of 67.5 with a 6'' fork yet have stuck steeper (68.5) geometry on the longer-travel and burlier (heavier) 6.6?? Odd.. I'd quite like one though as it's the steep head angle that's always put me off a 6.6..
Because the longer travel bike will sit lower in it's travel at the sag position therefore rendering the angles slacker? Geometry figures on the Intense site are static don't forget.
Hmmm... well then why are most 6-7'' travel bikes using 67 degree head-angles as opposed to the 6.6's 68.5 degrees? You have to admit that Intense's trail-bike geometry is a little odd.
That, I don't know. My Uzzi is 67 degrees but I run an 8" travel fork in it so slackens it right out to around 65/66 static. My FXR has a 68.5 degree head angle with 6" forks and I've never wanted it to be slacker than that.
Maybe it's a Californian thing. Even Ellsworth run pretty steep head angles (as near as makes no difference to 68 degrees on the Moment).
You can always email them and ask, they are actually normally really happy to discuss their bikes and why they're a certain way.

i would like to weigh some of these bikes myself 23lb seems very light, what would you have to spend to get it so light and more important how would it ride. you could get it around 29lb with a not extortionate price and i bet it would ride a lot nicer
23lbs would work out around £2600 with the current exchange rate Nigel. I used Wrench Science to build up my FXR & 4X and they do a very good job. It helps to be converting from £ to $, I wouldn't want to be doing it the other way As for the build - it was all sensible stuff so there's no reason it shouldn't ride well. We're not talking ultra thin titanium spokes or tin foil rims.

im honestly surprised it can be built that light i have a scandium viper frame a revelation air fork i beam stem 321 rims on hope bulbs and a mainly deore built and the bike weighs 28.5 i could loose around allmost two pounds on the tyres but i am allways wondering just what other people use to bring the weight down. is it mainly the wheels and tyres ?
I am in the market for a new bike next year to celebrate making it to 40 years of age. I was thinking of a Lapierre but seeing as I used to have the old Tracer I might be tempted but the frame will probably cost the same as a complete Lapierre.

My XCT 4 (when, they eventually finish it) will weigh around 23.5lbs. Most of the weight saving has come from using XTR and using sensible wheels. It's got Chris King hubs built into Stans ZTR Olympic rims with DT Revolution spokes so all up weight for the wheels is going to be around 1.4kg Tyres are tubeless and weigh just over 480g each, then I used Thomson stem & post with Easton bars. Don't forget that the 321 is a heavy rim designed to take some knocks. You could easily expect to drop 3lbs off the weight of the bike by swapping wheels & tyres and wouldn't need to spend a fortune. I've seen (actually saw it weighed) an Ibis Mojo head out with a sub 20lb build that would cost just over £3k and be totally useable. I saw a Tranny go out with a full spread of gears, Fox F120's and discs weighing just under 18lbs and that would only* have cost around £2.2k Keep in mind I'm going off buying in the US. I'd expect to have to pay more for UK bike prices because of VAT etc. *when I say 'only' - it's all relative
