exactly, you can't be too thorough. just because you're all ace mechanics

Hhhmm...  I guess we've established these articles might not be aimed at you bunch.  What do you reckon DA?

i reckon there's still a big audience for just such articles.  we'll have to get Mike D to work on some more advanced maintenance articles for this lot.

Some people like their saddles tilted down at the front. I know I do, plenty of room for your tackle.

if your saddles at the correct height, you shouldn't need to have the nose pointing down - sounds like you've got it too high to me

It doesnt offend me in the slightest David.  You have missread my intentions.

I actually asked for MORE articles like these recently when it was pointed out to me that this site was more than just a forum by MD.  I was just asking if the sudden flow of articles was down to my request.

I could really do with a detailed article on how to fit HTII cranks because no matter how i do it i always get them tensioned incorrectly and either the crank is loose or it is grinding the life out of the bearings.

Regards

no worries LB. we just decided that there's all this great content stashed away in the depths of BM and it should really be brought to the readers attention once more, only with a bit of a refresh and in two regular weekly slots (tuesday/thursday). Most of the maintenance articles are still relevant, as the HTII article will be to you when it goes live on Thursday.

as soon as mike is back...

Hope that its a bit better than "Fitting a Headset" Lumps of wood on an £800 frame Ive always used these:-

A 10 mm threaded rod with 2 nuts and 2 x 55 mm plate washers, installing the bearing cups one at a time.  using the  nut  and a  socket / spanner to gradual pull the cup into the frame. Its better than a hammer and lump of wood as you can make sure it goes in aligned.

Fitting the fork race use a piece of 35 mm plastic waste pipe over the steerer and just tap gently with a hammer again it ensures it goes on straight.
