Unless you plan in reinflating the tube by blowing down the valve.....
I've always started at the valve taking a tyre off (more slack as the bead isn't held up by the valve), and finished at the valve putting a tyre on (tube held in place by the valve and again more slack. Race yah!

Unless you plan in reinflating the tube by blowing down the valve..... Nice try, but it says "tool-free tube change". The act of changing it is bereft of tools, inflation is extra
But step 7 of your tube change process says to "Partially inflate the new tube"
You can do that with your mouth, and I often do

My Michelin tyres basically fall off my rims, never need a lever to get them off. Some Conti tyres are a right pig though. Don't think you'd get them off without a lever.
That's pretty much the exact opposite of most people's experience What rims are you using?
Only whips use tools
Should be a disclaimer for won't work with all tyre / rim combo's and the proper tools should always be taken out with you, emergency use only!! Syncro's Point and Chute's on a EX729 rim, took me and a mate @1hour with tyre levers and a screw driver to get them off and alot of swearing, I put slime in the tube to try to avoid a further puncture and didn't want to try removing it again to put anything else on.
Hands up who repairs the old tube. Or do you just slap in another new tube?
always, its quicker than trying to roll up the old one and force out the residual air.
I've had a fair bit of trouble with my tyres slipping round the rim causing the tube valve to sheer off. (wasn't much fun doing the Dyffi enduro when it happenned on the first 4 mile road section leaving me behind the pack only 5 mins in) I've found Pannaracers were the main culprits, Swalbe and Conti seem better.
I always repair, so I've always got a guaranteed working tube in my bag incase the valve gets ripped off which is common. Halfords, self sticking patches take seconds to fit so it's not really a concern, been using the same front and back tubes for AGES FWF, I had 2 happen in a row in the peaks, 29" Rampage Tyres are SHITE, it was WET, I lowered the pressure abit and 1 down Mam Tor then 1 on the road when I broke, won't be using those tyres again, thats also a Panaracer think I'll avoid that entire make, long walk back to the car

That's pretty much the exact opposite of most people's experience What rims are you using? Mavic 717's.

 Steel bead conti's fall off.
in fact, nearly all conti's fall off. IME, i struggle with spesh tyres the most
Conti Gravity UST on crossmax rims, broke 2 tyre levers as the groove in the rim is smaller than the tyre bead! I now own metal tyre levers.
I must admit that a Conti Vert UST on Crossmax had me hunting in the shed for tyre levers that haven't been used in years. A Michelin All Mountain was a bit tight too and required so much pressure to make it pop I feared for the rim.
