Those Flippy Flappy levers just get fuglier and fuglier.

Mech looks nice though.

That rear mech's interesting, I like the sound of that.

Surprising that XT is going to feature something that XTR isnt!

I would imagine we will see "trickle up" to XTR.

I damn well hope so, I'm not buying an XT mech :-)

Is that an informed statement HRP!?

Nope, just a guess Nick. Unfortunately we have no codes on the system yet so I can't backorder the Shadow mech yet.
nice to see BM actually write something, as opposed to the stw article which seemed to be a direct copy from a shimano catalogue.

They say:

"The design also means that the mechanism linking the dropout to the cage is considerably shorter. Not only will this save weight, it'll also improve stiffness. In particular, the new derailleur is said to have increased vertical stability which should mean an end to the irritating rattle of derailleur on chainstay. You'll also find shorter, more direct cable routing for improved response."

I say:

Shimano have again attempted to plagiarise the good ideas that SRAM have had without admitting it or paying royalties.

Thats what the Japanese do 4AM. Look at the MX-5 or the Nissan Micra. They are the MGB and the Mini but so much better than the originals in every way (apart from the soul the originals had obviously).

I was kind of pleased to see the cable loop taken out. Its 66% of the reason I prefer SRAM to Shimano (1:1 shifting being the other 33%).

(The remaining 1% is down to backing the underdog)
I like the design of Shadow to, if the price is reasonible I might actually get me 1 of them.

If DT likes them then Shimano are doing something wrong.
Don't worry HRP I'll likely wait for the Deore model :)

Thats all quite cool. My current groupo is fairly knackered as well and being shored up with some cheap fugly deore OEM bits (how come deore oem looks so crap compared to the shop bought stuff)

or is it the other way round?

i may start looking at 07 XT groupo prices when this comes up for sale then :-)

Agree with the first comment on the levers. They are super fugly, IMHO.

That mech spring looks pretty exposed.

Could someone remind me which way round top and low normal are?
