Interesting review Mike. £4k is a lot of money for a 32lb bike. I'm not really sure what sort of riding the bike is aimed at. OK it could be used as an all rounder I suppose but then you arguably wouldn't want to drop it's carbon lovelyness on a DH track... Also it doesn't seem to offer anything that the SX trails, Reigns, Meta 6.6's and Ransoms don't at half the price..

Anything half the price is going to be quite a lot heavier.
It's a Cannondale... It's aimed therefore at towpath fashonistas...
Anything half the price is going to be quite a lot heavier You could build up a Heckler for £2.5k for about 31lbs and a standard reign X1 only weighs about 33lb at £2K ..an extra 2K for a lb?? I don't see what the fuss is about personally.
a standard reign X1 only weighs about 33lb at £2K No it doesn't. Giant claim 36lb, so it's at least that. I don't think you could do a 31lb Heckler (which isn't a 160mm bike anyway) for £2.5k either. I'm certainly not arguing that the Moto's stunning value - for my money it's well past the point of diminishing returns - but there's no denying that it's light for what it is, and it rides really rather well

MBUK weighed a medium Reign X1 as 33lbs in last years test Mike.. maybe they've got lardier of late? I mean even my standard 2005 Reign with 36 Vans only weighs 33lbs.... weighed on quite an accurate scale too.. (and the 31lb Heckler, ok 10mm shy, is one I know of built with 36 TALAS, xt, easton and hope/DT wheels)
Well, I was certainly surprised to see the '09 weighing that much, my SX Trail with Wotans weighs 36 and that's starting with a 10lb frame
How much does the Lapierre Spicy (or is it Zesty I can never remember, anyway the 160mm one) wiegh? It's not so heavy and is a lot cheaper that cannondales offering.
So to sum up this bike 1) It isnt very fashionable cos its a cannondale 2) It isnt exactly value for money 3) It isnt really suitable for the UK market 4) It's one plus point is the fact that its light which for the market its aimed at, isnt really the be all and end all. Sounds like a winner to me.

Well, (3) is debatable. Personally I quite like bigger bikes. Not all the time, though
Ohh lets not go there When are you doing a test on a nice indistructable 4" Full Suss which needs the crap kicked out of it in the lakes? You know where to contact me
I've got a couple of 4inchers in now, as it happens. Neither are of the indestructable style, though...

Nobodies mentioned it's a very pretty color.
I like the colour! It makes it easier to find should i fall off the side of the mountain Hobo, you missed the part about it riding really well though. and should you need a bike for that specific usage, there's not a lot else out there of that weight.
I take for granted a £4k bike rides well.
 Take nothing for granted
It looks stunning in the flesh (so to speak). £4k is a lot of money but you can blow that on a custom built jobbie quite easily these days - just look at the Sworks carbon Stumpy HT which is £2,500 just for the frame & forks.

 £280/kilo.....Silver is only £180/kilo today
You can't ride silver down a mountain...... .......comfortably.
