No mention of what grease to use or how to change the seals if needed.

We'll do actually changing the seals another time. Most of the time it won't be needed, no point over-complicating things.

As for grease, whatever brand of suspension-oriented grease you like or can easily get. Pace, Makt, Finish Line, Manitou, Fox's own, whatever.

We like Manitou Prep M in the workshop at the moment. Has knocked Pace RC-7 Grease out of the grease gun.

Mark: there's a short video that can be downloaded from the Fox website showing seal replacement. It looks quite easy!

Wow, celebrity greasematch. Did the Manitou stuff fight dirty?

Very clean, although it couldn't make any of its punches stick!

Did my Fox shok a couple of months ago,
putting the new seals in was really easy. Got them from Mojo, had a chat with them on the phone before I did the seal change, and I asked them what grease to use. When I suggested the Manotou Prep M grease they said no way, its more like Swarfega than grease. I then suggested the Finish Line Teflon grease and they said that was OK.

To now its had a few hammerings at Betws y Coed and up in the Clwydians, and all is OK -)

Finish Line Teflon gubbins is an oil, not a grease. It's a different matter. It's very good for on stanchions and keeping wet seals wet,(eg Psylos, Fox Floats etc) but not for use on 'dry' forks, or shocks, that's where Manitou Prep M comes in. eg, on my USE SUB or Pace RC36/38 etc

So what's the best grease to use 5 years on I wonder?
Show/hide user stats

Do these instructions apply to the newer swinger three way at all?

Had mine just under a year and it could prob do with some attention- am concerned about the neg spring and pre set SPV chamber..

Anyone?

Show/hide user stats
i always use a lithium based grease and also a small amount of float fluid in the air chamber

Except the plan was to ditch the old forum comments...

Air sleeve kit £10

Oil £5

Fitting open serviced shock to muddy dusty bike where crap could get in a undo all that you just spent an hour doing, absolutely bloomin priceless!

Has it taken you nearly a year to come up with that gem?
