They certainly look the business.

And splendidly we got a mail from Conti about ten minutes after that review went up saying that the 2.3s are in stock end of September. But they've got one pair now that they're sending us to play with...

How well did they wear Mike? What MTB reckoned they had good performance but wore quickly on tarmac

I highly rate Conti's for wear - my crosscountry/baja tyres, which are well over 5yrs old, are still going strong. They take any amount of slashes form sharp rocks and have great puncture resistance.
Amittedly, I ride on Panaracer XC fire pros at the moment, a great performing tyre, but very prone to cuts and thorn punctures. They won't last as long as the Conti's!!

All good tyres wear quickly on Tarmac ;-). These don't seem any better or worse than others in that regard. I suspect the cheaper version may wear better thanks to a harder rubber compound. But then they probably won't grip as well.

I ride Conti Explorers just now and find the wear rate is acceptable. If the Vapors are the same then I'll be moving onto those when my Explorers wear out. The only thing I don't like about the Explorers is they get squirrely on tarmac and hardpack due to the nobbles flexing. If Conti have solved this problem with the Vapor it should be an excellent tyre.

those sound interesting and pretty damn light too for a nearly 2.1. I'd be well interested in the 2.3s, especially as by the time I'll need non-mud tyres (April to June next year in Bristol!) I should be able to afford some. I've got Tioga 2.1 Extremes which are very very impressive but wear a bit fast for my liking - it'll be interesting to compare them.

The Pros are under £ 20 on Merlin - pretty decent saving for a brand new product. Just ordered a pair for my Explosif - can't face another wet season on Trailblasters (keeps you alert I suppose). Anyway - hopefully the Vapors will give me a lot more cornering bite and traction but still roll reasonably well on the in-between bits.

The new Gravity tyres look the business.
Those vapors are a bit 'small' looking.
Ive got verticals on at the moment but the gravity looks a much better tyre for me.

I can't firthe 2.3s in the Explosif - besides I like a little bit of liveliness. Lively but not sketchy is what I'm hoping for - hope they arrive tomorrow so's I can give them some what-for on Sunday.
