Dear all,

I'm new to Bike Magic & returning to cycling after about 10 yrs out. I've just bought a bas boy & would like to hear from anyone who can recomend a good insurance company that would insure this. I live in London & use it every day to commute into the city.

Try your home insurance people first and then there are several companies who will insure you.

No matter who you use, the premium is usually around 10% of the cost of your bike.

I believe most cycling organisations offer it - LCC, CTC etc

yeah, CTC. its quite cheam compared to others, i think you need to be a member. it will ofcourse be more expensive living in london, but it will be the same for most. CTC seem pretty comprehensive also.
oh, welcome back!!

try your home insurance company first - theyre often cheaper...

if not check out the Marks & Spencer home insurance - any item insured outside the home for theft, accidental breakage etc up to a limit of £4000 per item.....

and thy're insuring my stuff in amsterdam while I work here for a year at no extra cost

I've heard of supermodels insuring their legs....but I think you'll have problems insuring your 'bad boy'.

I just tried M&S as my renewal is up soon and i was interested in the insuring of bikes outside the property.

My current quote is about £140 pa with bikes insured inside the property (up to £1000 each) only - fine really as i can't ride 4 bikes outside at the same time!

M&S wanted £445!!! and i couldn't get covered anyway as i need BS standard locks on all the windows and doors (i rent so am not paying for that and the landlord is a tightarse so wouldn't do it either)

Think i'll stay where i am and take the risk!!!

London, tsssk........

The insurance for my house is with prudential and the bikes are covered up to £1000 wherever they are as long as they had been locked when they were nicked.

Sadly I've had to claim twice, and £1000 is less than half what my bikes worth second time round :(
