Have just read the briliant article about the cheddar everest challenge by David Arthur.
We also took part as a team of two (Beasts of Bengeo) and thought it was a fantastic event.
Shame there were not more riders, but i'm sure next year will be bigger and better.

Can't wait!
I strangely like climbing to unfit this year, but will think about setting a team up for next year.

One of my normal climbs has @800ft of pure up in only 1.5miles, so don't sound to bad, I guess this was up and down making it harder to get your 1000ft though.

Pain for sure, team of 6 would give U 5hours of down time, and 5 runs a piece. which would be to easy :)

I like the idea of descending everest in a day. It reminded myself of a challenge I and some of my friends took in the pyrenees. Three of us went on holiday with Steve Mead and Pyractif (Fantastic Holiday) and he challenged us to a day descending the height of everest in 1 day. we used cable cars to ascend Superbagneres and came back down 8 times, each time on a different track. The results were fantastic. I had blisters the size of ten pence pieces on each palm and magura brake pads worn to the plastic. The last descent was the road up to Superbagneres. I remember overtaking car after car and squealing tyres on the hairpins. One word to sum it all up. "Awesome"
With Ski Lifts to take away all the pedalling, that'd be cool :)

One day, one day!! maybe

As the nut who came up the initial idea....

Thankyou for the article, made our [Broadway Dave & Aardvark Burt with Myself] efforts worth while.

To answer some of your points, yes it will run next year [May??], Arthritis Research will again be our charity.

The team who did the ride in the shortest time was Cycros Fools, who did it in 27h 23m, they were an off road team of four. The first all roadie team was Intcycle, a team of three, who did it in 28h 48m, being the third team to complete the climb.

The author of the article seemed a little disappointed with their participation.

But most people who would consider themselves fit could not even get that far - well done for your efforts and a great article on top of them ;-)

hmm, i may put this on my list of extremely idiotic things to do...
