Was that Enduro specially painted to blend into the background? BTW - some of the BIG PIC links don't work..

Cool! Stumpy 120 for me please :)
"BTW - some of the BIG PIC links don't work..." Not again!! Like the one on today's homepage too then? ;-)

 ENDURO SX TRAIL for me

just wondering, the 'blurb says the bikes are now further of the ground, with higher BB's.
i wonder what MBR will make of that?
what's the betting that the new BB heights are now 'perfect'?
Well some had to come further up to accomadate the increase in travel. Are they high enough for the travel they have now?
Saw the full catalogue today- Specialized look like they are gonna do very well this year!
Is the Epic gone for 2005 ?
Nah, still there: S-Works Epic Pro Epic Comp Epic
s-works epic is frame&fork only this year no complete bike
Hmm didnt notice it missing from the catalogue, but I just looked on the dealer site and you're right.
You must have been looking at a dealer book as the catologues have been delayed thanks to phillip meirhargue!!
Yeah, it was the dealer book. There was a ironic sentence in it actually about him...I'll remember it for tomorrow.

Is the Stumpy 120 the new Enduro? If not why not? Was the old enduro that bad? Is the new Stumpy better than the old Enduro? Will anybody bother to compare?
The Stumpy 120 is not the new enduro, its just a slightly longer travel version of last years enduro. The new enduro is the new enduro.
The enduro wasnt bad, infact it was quite good.
I couldnt tell you if the new Stumpy is better that the old enduro, but they are aimed at slightly different markets, so is it wise to make comparisons?
I couldnt tell you if the

In the US the old Enduro is still in the range ;-)
Stumpy 120 is lighter and steeper than the old Enduro. The Epics are still there but essentially unchanged. And I still think they've got all the names wrong ;-)
So if the Stumpy 120 is lighter and steeper than the old Enduro, then surely there is a bit of a gap for harder riding XC trail bike? That new Enduro looks quite a beast and much more 'freeride-y' than the old one. I certainly think it wouldn't be much fun carting that thing uphill, where as it wasn't a problem at all on the old Enduro.
Funny about the names, but when I talk to people from other countries they think of Enduro as all day riding on tough terrain - where as in this country it just seems to mean a very long ride along fire roads (Dyfi, Merida etc.) So maybe it's us that have the names wrong?

I'll take issue with the Enduro being popular since it's introduction. I had one of the 2000 models, it had a woefully low bottom bracket height of about 11 inches depending on the fork/setting. Everyone I know who had one, sold them within a year. They just weren't up to their 'Enduro' billing whatever we take that to mean.
So, it's finally good to see Specialized releasing trail bikes with bottom bracket heights of 13+ inches.
Next it'll be Shimano releasing chains that don't need special pins.
Well, I can hope. ;-)

I'm no engineer, but what's the point in having a spherical bearing at only one end of the shock? Surely if there's going to be any side loading on the shock the spherical bearing will just transfer the force to the other end of the shock? Unless the spherical bearing's on the mainframe end :)
that FSR 120 looks mighty nice though!

Any news on prices??
I'll be upgrading my old hardtail GT for a full-susser early next year and had been looking at the Stumpy FSR Comp at £1600. Is there a similarly equiped bike in the new range for the same money or are they using the same old excuse for putting the prices up again! Cynical - me - never!
