We've had the ferry deals confirmed by Red Funnel for the Wight Diamond now - £35 off peak or £45 peak for a car and four people which is about the cheapest fare to the IoW I've seen in 12 years of riding there. You need to book through the form on the Trail Break website though or quote the code at the bottom of the booking page. More info here

 "Dimond"?

Always dead cheap in the middle of the night but never seen em that cheap. Having said that, we're off for a few days in July so probably gonna be a bit more pricey :(
When is the festival?
A Diamond White festival!! You wouldn't know who long I've been waiting for there to be a festival devoted to the delights of cheap white cider.
Oh
I see...
bollocks
*cracks open another three litres of White Lightning*

White Lightning is dirt.......but cheap.....filthy hangovers but standard issue bus stop equipment
Isle of Wight....isnt it just full of oldies and tea shops?:) been passed it a few times on the bilbao ferry tho

"Isle of Wight....isnt it just full of oldies and tea shops?:)" You missed out bloody great hills and about 1 mile of bike-legal trail per square mile of Island, Dan :-) To give you an idea of the size of the hills, the height difference from the Festival campsite to Shanklin Down (about 2km away) is more than the climb from Edale to Hollins Cross. The riding over there is excellent. It's like someone distilled the best of the South Downs into a 13 x 23 mile area. The Festival is 27-30th May (as per the news story at the top of the page or this link here. Runs from friday to monday afternoon over the Bank Holiday, three full days of riding, live bands and partying in the evenings, full on site catering and bar throughout the weekend (we might even get some cheap white cider in for you George, or meths if you like, just let us know!). I don't think there's another mtb festival spanning four days on the calendar. It's the 10th year too, so we're pulling out all the stops to make it a big'un.

ok sorry milo, im booking my ticket right now
Sorry about the hard sell Dan, but I'm in full promo mode right now ;-)
It is a good place to ride though and not that many people seem to realise it. It's funny how a places reputation can change though. Being the old codger I am, I can remember when you mentioned going to Wales for a ride to most bikers and they just looked at you funny and said "It's just rain and sheep out there, isn't it?" in fact that was less than 10 years ago...

Hmmm well Isle of Wight is a fair trek from Lancashire.....but i'l wave on the ferry when im goin past in august :)
I'm sure the oldies will pop out of their tea rooms and wave back ;-)
nope they'l just keal over in their tea.......another moan.......ferry prices to spain have gone up again this year!
I think you can get the ferry at a discounted price if you are booking onto the campsite. They do that all for you as well so one less thing to worry about.
Just hope we have the same weather as last year. Sun and Beer are made for each other. And as for the hills well if you have been up the ridge in the centre of the island to the point where the aerials are then it is not too disimilar to the climbs in Wales.
Also a shame there is no Wight Max anymore.
Looking forward to an easier time this year as I'm doing the London Marathon in April and swapping my Trek Y-five-O for a nice shinny Santa Cruz Superlight.
