More adjustablity = more stuff to go wrong?
Now has anyone ever thought, "This bike is perfect apart from the shifter paddles, they are 1.5 degrees out of sync for me"?
I agree badger, although some will see this as the next big thing.....its just added stuff that can go wrong IMO
 Kato will love it :-)
Doubt it Mike, Kato loves SRAM coz its 1:1, shifts positively down and up thanks to a good spring, and isn't Shimano.
I'll be sticking with X9 and 02 XT.
 Indeed I do Mike :-)
proper carbon fibre too, none of that 'Grilon' nonsense from the X.0 twisters
There's hardly much to go wrong, the adjustable lever is just clamped around the mechanism with a pinch bolt. You might as well say a stem is over-complicated ;-)
Call me a gruff old traditionalist, but I like to know what gear I'm in. Will they bring it out with an indicator?
Look down towards the rear wheel, there's quite a good indicator there (if you can count) :-)
If you're as old as me Andrew you're probably too long sighted to read the indicators without crashing.
I've got an audible indicator on the tandem. Barbara shouts: 'only one left' 'you're still on the big ring you ######er!' etc
 LOL at John.
I still use thumbies on my Fulls Suspension Tandem and always listen out for the stokers complaints as well ;o)
SRAM stuff looks fantastic, nice to see I will be able to build up my old DBR Axis TT Frame completely Japan free, with strong and light components. Fanbloodytastic.
Infact I was thinking of a really light full sus. How about a Litespeed Niota Ti, now theres a use for the new SRAM gear.
Just need lots of money now :O(

"I still use thumbies on my Fulls Suspension Tandem and always listen out for the stokers complaints as well "
what like "ow my ankle!" ;-)
I'm waiting for a blue tooth group set so we can get rid of all the wires.
But you'll have to be careful someone does'nt hack your group set and cause phantom shifts.
..seeme to me everything is becoming incompatable. You can have sram shifters but not a shimano mech. You can have Hope Brakes but not shimano wheels, etc. I'm not sure the rampant competition is doing us consumers much good!
Oh yes you can Tim. SRAM make Shimano compatible 2:1 paddle and twift shifters and Magura make a very tidy 6 bolt to Shimano spline adaptor.
or use Hope brakes on Shimano rotors. I love all this mix and match stuff :-)
To be fair to Sram and all the other companies mentioned above, its shimano who are the awkward ones - they're the ones who introduced the incompatibility issues.
They do look nice though.
Bluetooth shifting is an idea - wireless shifters with powered shifters. Almost certainly more trouble than its worth though.
Bluetooth? It'd disconnect when it felt like it and then change the gears on your mates bike for a laugh.
Mavic Zap guys (mechtronic or something like that). The first version with wires died in the wet but my mate has been using the new wireless version for a while now with no probs. The ergonomics of the brake levers are, well, French. Visually it looks like a TGV on zoids - it's probably somewhere on mavic.com but not worth a link.
