That disk brake bracket looks rather flimsy to me. I mean they's a fair bit of metal, but normally they're directly on the seatstay, are the forces simply not enough to make that move?

I assume you mean the convertible one? I guess we'll find out ;-)

ayem the one in the piccy

if you need a test rider, drop me a line :o)
Show/hide user stats
I think we should get Mike Ayles to test it with a Hayes 203 bolted on.

you don't even need that!, give ti to me with the cheapest weakest disk brake you can find, gt85 the rotors and pads, and i'l still snap it somehow

all going good atm though :-)

What back wheel did Spesh send in the end Mike?

Look nice

another one for the "sometime in the future" list

why does the vertical dropout version of the convertible one have a slotted disc mount?

Show/hide user stats
Because the disc mount doesn't unbolt, it's part of the bit that's welded to the frame.

personally i would stick with the kobe ti from dialledbikes.com, now a tried and trusted product from a UK company.
Show/hide user stats
But a completely different style of bike. Just because they're both titanium doesn't make them comparable frames ;-)

Indeed, Dialled Bikes equivalent would be the Morning Glory...

Although again I'd contend that that's not a direct competitor - the Pipedream is distinctly of the lightweight persuasion, the MG's built stout.

john, sorry for the late reply, but spesh sent me a whole new wheelset

soo, ditchwitch front and back
new tyres, new rotors, and anything else, which i think isn't too bad, but i would have preferred my bike back before i went to france

So are the pipedreams frames a bit XC with weights and geometry then? The review says 100-130mm fork compatible which would insinuate that it's a bit burlier than that.
Show/hide user stats
3.1lb for a 19in frame suggests XCish tendencies ;-) I'm guessing we're looking at fast handling with a 100mm fork and slightly more relaxed with a 130 (in a Cotic style) rather than actually designed for 130 and rather nervous at 100. Or something.

Anyway, we'll find out soon ;-)

I've a Cotic and know what you mean with the angles, but then the Cotic is built strong and stiff and weighs just over 4lb for the medium. Admittedly it's steel rather than Ti but I wouldn't call it an XC frame. Trail bike maybe.

On commission or just getting in before Mike from Dialled pops up?

Setavento do great frames and there service is by far the best of any company i have dealt with.
Have been riding custom single speed for10 weeks and love the thing .
