Reminded me of the fun of it all!
Wonderful stuff.
Any of the 'victims of gravity' shwon here on the site? (Apart from David of course!)

Well done David! That is a most excellent crash montage!
thanks guys (and mike) pleased to be able to enterain you all

Ah . . . "going down with the ship" an old favourite. The trick is to perfect the forward roll and finish lying on your back, bike still attached to the hands and feet and wheels pointing skywards, preferably with arse in a cold puddle!
Nice set of offs, different ways of getting down and out, at least the landings were soft. Great weekend and thanks to all the riders from afar and of course the welsh wizards.
 LOL
Good advert for DMR pedals!

"...the bike's stopped moving. Unfortunately, those pesky laws of physics mean that Dave hasn't. You can almost smell the inertia."
Arf. Coffee is dripping down the monitor. Some good `action` shots there though.

are there anymore different ways to dismount a bike over the handlebars than the above?
my landing wasn't quite so soft as some. i cleared the bog and landed on harder ground, buggering my knee up

I couldn't see an example of the Full Front Flip, where you leap over the bars into a tuck, flip in the air and land on your feet. I think Jez Avery or Hans Rey or someone used to do 'em ;-)
Well you can clatter into an [unseen/forgotten about] metal gate going top whack in your rush to get home. Only being saved by the headset hitting instead of me. I flew through the air apparently for a good few feet :-) Knackered the headset on the bike though :-o I was fine though once I'd gotten over the inital shock \o/
And David, my sympathies. We like to see people falling off but not getting hurt in the process ;-)

Jez Avery - a blast from the past,he could jump and land to applause.
C-O, that wasn't at the bottom of Telegraph on Holmbury Hill was it? Saw someone do that last year, hilarious!
Also not listed is the "Running Windmill", an advanced variation on the standard running away crash, where the rider goes straight over the bars, and yet has to continue running forward waving arms around like a windmill to try and retain balance. I am, as it happens, a dab hand at this!
yes i'm quite a fan of the Running Windmill, though judges would perhaps only give me a 4/10 for style
Not forgetting remembering to dodge to one side to get out of the way of the bike tumbling down the hill after you ;-)
Nope sorry CT. That wasn't me. This was ohh prolly about thirteen years ago.
My mate thought it funny once he saw I was moving and able to talk coherently. He actually sounded quite concerned when he first came running up :-)

Hey I'm a Elite Level Bike Ejector, I always manage to get off and land on my feet :)
It's why I don't clip in :)
I'm looking for an image of the flip dismount. Or more accurately, a picture of some bloke who doesn't look like he got it quite right :-)
And yep, Jez Avery. Where has he gone/what's he doing nowdays and can he still bunny-hop like a pole-vaulter?
How about the . . . (ex.) riding buddy induced - 30 mph superman dive to tarmac roll.
This particularly painful dismount occurs at times of route disagreement during fast road sections and involves the victim having his front wheel side-swiped at speed.
Usually instigated by his buddy who, with no warning to suggest that he may be about to do so, takes a side road to the left, across the path of the victim.
To avoid painful skin removal and bruising (particularly of knees, hips, elbows, shoulders and hands) and inability to write in any impending school examinations, this move should only be undertaken by those in full body armour.

Jez is still doing shows - see singletrack mag this month for an interview. There's one euro guy who does a cool dismount - riding along, brake to a total stop, flip over the bars while still holding them and the bike is still upright (so his hands rotate around the bars, and his feet describe a much bigger circle) before letting go to dismount and land on both feet, no wobble, 6,6,5.4,6 etc... Lots of pics of him doing it in famous ish places, usually in nasty coloured lycra and i think on a cannondale (I just can't fine em at the mo!)
