Did the SXC race on Sunday, going like a total dog though! Course would've been good if I'd not been so knackered!

AND... there were no ties for numbers by Sunday, they offered us some duck tape, eventually! Thats a fairly fundamental part of running a race guys!

What, don't you have a bag of zipties in your tool box?

top event guys (and girls) well done to those who put it all together, not to mention those who took part and helped give the event a good vibe!

Thank you once again for the course, it made the time fly by!

Number 240 here; I take despute with your 'tool for the job' - I did my 26 laps on a fully rigid bike; although with carbon fork and seatstays and Stan's NoTubes (so low pressure tyres). Pleasingly I designed it and it rode very well in it's first competitive outing. If anyone is interested, check it out at: www.bikerevuk.com
Now onto SSMM for twice the fun......

Rob, how the hell did you manage 26 laps? Good effort though. Out of interest, what food did you use to get you through the 12hours?

nice bike by the way:)

Cheers David. Basically I just didn't stop, apart from pausing to grab bottles. Food - 12 bottles of Enervit, about 8 SIS gels, 1 SIS Go bar, 1 banana and three marmite and cream cheese sandwiches (I get sick of sweet stuff after about six hours). With the drink and gels it doesn't take much more to get 70g carbohydrate an hour, which is all the body can absorb anyway.

I started out mostly on cereal bars, jelly babies and a bagel which got me through nine hours ok, then bonked and couldn't eat anything else except bananas. I was drinking about one bottle of energy drink per hour-ish.

I'd never thought of eating sandwiches on a ride, might give that a try next time, thanks for the tip
