That's a stunning piece of design.

OOO bugger there goes my ISA..!!!!
Very nice
|
 |
 Looks smart, doesn't it?

Interesting that Scott have not used a Horst link design as on the Genius bikes. Something to do with the touble they had in the USA from Specialized? Look a bit odd, but is definitly interesting.

(Wonder why Spesh are using suspicously Scott-like Carbon technology on their bikes this year.....perhaps a licensing share?)
|
 |
I think Spesh carbon MTBs are just the next obvious step. They've been doing full carbon road stuff for a while.
George is probably on to something ;-)

My short list for next years' new bike is getting long!
Can't wait to get testing.

 |
i dont go muc on the carbon look but that pulls it off nicely

Never liked the idea of a carbon fibre bike (metal purist) but it looks really nice. Very industrial and quite complex in the middle and overall beutiful finish to the bike.
|
 |
Can't see it on the Scott site - some XP vs. activeX thing - nice?
|
 |
It's a video, higgo. With a spanky cool soundtrack too!

Looks like you'll need plenty of time to clean the mud out of all the nooks and cranneys.

For anyone who might be concerned over the way our CR1 Carbon technology might stand up to the hammering Ransom might get, then let me try to help and explain.
We have spent hundreds of hours testing the frame for strength and impact resistance, especially the down tube area. It always takes time for people to fully understand and get confidence with new technology and materials, especially when other manfacturers have done a poor job using carbon. Our CR1 Carbon technology is very unique, very light and incredibly strong with a proven track record in Road (CR1) and Mountain Bike (Genius and Scale).
The Ransom is a new challenge to make a light weight, longer travel bike using CR1 technology, and a new shock with 'on the fly' adjustment similar to the Genius.
More details will be released very soon.
To reply to a couple of points....The Ransom is designed in-house and not shared with any other manufacturer of factory (even though they have tried).....it will be available in the US....it has plenty of mud clearance.
Oh, and if you are still not sure, the Ransom is available in 2 alloy models as well as Carbon.
Happy to help with any other points.
Cheers, Ian Hughes.

Looks like a nice bit of kit.

Nice to hear from you, Ian! One of the few guys from the manufacturers brave enough to come and wrangle with the public on here! (Oh, and despite the name change, it's still Charlie from the Covent Garden shop of yesterday under the mask here!)
Regards to all the folk up there in Cramlington!

I think the price for the carbon model looking at the pictures will be over two grand. I think the range overall will be £1500 to £2000+ I think thats a respectable estimate given the specification.
|
 |
Thanks johnathan thats the sort of price I was thinking it be. Be good to see one up close plus may be a test ride..
Ian H any chance of doing a trade (you got to try ;-) ) in for a MC50 O4 been well used had load of winter riding, had no problems with the rear shock (I think people, think the mud would eat it)... As it does seem to be exposed.
