why can't rockshox leave their fork line alone? I've lost track of all the new forks and i'm gonna have to do so much research when i replace my venerable 2002 Duke SL.

I might be on the wrong track, but I think the numbering system refers to the cubic inches of classic american v8 muscle car engines....
They look good, I've seen the Base model on a Trek 9700 with the motion control looked like a damn good fork.

and for the money, if the damping is good then a coil one pls for me :)

Duke's and Pilot's have been around for YEARS.

Reba's are still the race fork aren't they, 115mm max travel a tad lighter ?? so thats you replacement Dog!

Why change? The Pilot was like a pile of steaming shite and the Duke was starting to age a bit, although probably one of the better of the previous generation of RS.

Stephen is correct they do indeed refer to the cubic inches of classic US muscle cars.Strange but true.

"cubic inches of classic american v8 muscle car engines...."

Hmm. Relevance to bicycle forks clearly just out of shot ;-)

Pedant mode ON: Surely the Recon comes in 327 and 351, and not the 327 and 358 as described here.... or have I just made that bit up...?

I did wonder. I'd have never guessed at that tho..

seeing as you're asking what the numbers mean, what do the Sid, Pike, Reba,,Boxxer and Duke names relate to then? country and western singers? bars frequented by Rockshox staff? Trail names? Rockshox guard dogs names?
I'd go for Dog's names personally LOL

I can't see the point in having motion control on my bike, I'd never use it (especially after I've spent £300+ on actually having suspension in the first place).

what is motion control anyway?

is it RS's answer to SPV?

I think it's similar yeah.
It's just away of increasing the compression damping until locked, more efficent peddling wise less efficent bump eating wise.

Useful if your a racer, and useful for technical climbs where locked out is over kill.

sid stands for superlight intergrated designs, well they are light forks so it has some relevance
