YES YES YES this looks so cool. where do I sign
and how to I break it to the wife?

In answer to your second question
"don't bother to cook owt love, I'll be in Wales for the next week"
got to admitt this sounds like a good way to use some holiday days :)
Take the wife - after all there will days when you'll need a good rub down. This sounds totally awesome and I'm gonna be busy thinking of a team name, dapping my bum with surgical spirits and realising that it's just as well my mum dropped me on my head as a baby - no brain no pain!
I must admit this does appeal, especially as it is nearly 1 year away and time to get slightly even remotely fit in time!
Team name, hmm, thinking cap on. How do I break it to the other half, easy, fancy a road-trip to Wales in August by bike.
Having pedalled a large quantity of the Pyrenees last year with out tooo much prep (stupid as it turned out!) I think we'll manage something like this with time to prep.
£400 to enter though! but then that is all in!
I am giddy with excitement at the very thought of it. Trouble is it's this or a trip to Moab in October for the 24hr thing. Cash and wifely patience are both finite. Any thoughts?
Got to admitt the £400 entry fee would be a big spend for me, and that's per rider, so £800 for a team. Maybe if I do it for charity and raise enough sponsorship the charity will cover the entry fee :)
Strange concept of charity--"maybe it will pay for my holiday".Don't think I'll be donating
Wifely patience??????????? someone has to do the up hills, sounds great, count "us" in. No mention of a creche?
"Strange concept of charity--"maybe it will pay for my holiday".Don't think I'll be donating"
Actually a lot of charties do this sort of thing, like when people to parachute jumps, or cycle the inca trail, if you raise enough money in sponsorship - usally a couple of grand, they will cover the cost of participation, as they still come out with more money then they started with, say if a team raises 2K for charity, then the charity still comes out with £1600 donation + gift aid. So don't be so negative.
Well, can easily pay £400 for a weeks cycling in Europe - but then you don't have the excitement of bog hopping, sheep worrying and the added bonus that you might see some sunshine? Just seen the stages - Think i need locking up!!

DLC, I'm with Keith Seston on the charity thing. I've never really understood the 'pay for my parachute jump' concept at all.
Now if you were going to swim across a pirhana infested river or wrestle a bear I might seriously consider donating.
On the other hand, maybe I should give it a go.
I'm thinking of staying a couple of night in a posh London Hotel (for charidee of course) and was wondering if anyone might like to contribute?
my understanding of the way the charity thing works is that the charity approaches the event organiser and gets them to donate a certain number of FREE places to them, then you get the place free if you get so much in sponsorship. So none of the money goes to the event organiser.
It might be worth checking with the organisers if they are supporting a charity or two in this way if thats what you want to do.

When do entries need to be in by? I have mentiopned it to the team, and its a possibility! Sounds like fun....if a little tiring!
Looks like it will be full well before whenever the cloing date is, 150 teams = 300 nutters max, not many when you count a few international entries.
Doh the mates I MTB with think its too far and requires something called training, and the chaps I train for triathlon with don't like getting muddy...
Well I think the price tag will put off all but the keenest....I myself am going to enquire about sponsor contributions, but I think i will be forking out for this one myself.
I cant believe there is an age limit of atleast 18, tht really pi$$ed me off. It's the country i live in aswell.
Charities don't get free places on these events - we pay for them! I work for a major charity as an events organiser - normally you'd only get us to cover your costs in one of our own events though....
Ooh, er, blimey. Just received the email to say my entry's been accepted.
Better do some exercise I guess.
They may have to amend their route. Coed Y Brenin is full of bridleways so they are going to have trouble finding a patch to run their timed sections without invalidating their race insurence. Nant yr arian is ok for the first timed day though
