No one seems to mention the Eddison 4 lamp in UK reviews. It's the same lamp as the 5 but with a slightly smaller battery and a simple charge unit. It's quite a bit cheaper too.
Having used the Stadium before I still think the Stadium was brighter than the Lupine overall. It seemed to have a much wider spread of light. The Lupine has a much more concentrated light and sometimes in the high power it can be a bit too bright in tricky sections. But overall I have to agree that the Lupine is totally uncompromised.

I'm selling a virtually unused Edison 5 in the secondhand gear section, if anyone is interested...

I have an Edison 5 and it was one of the best mtb related investments I have ever made!

I agree that the Stadium was brighter. Don't get me wrong, I'm happier with my Edison 5, but it's not actually as bright IMO.
The Edison 4 is only £450 as opposed to £550, which isn't collossal when you lose a fair chunk of the burn time and you don't get the same charger.

After two years owning Stadium [actual usage max 6 months] the bulb went. Ziro said they were obsolete. Purchased Edison 5 as replacement. After 3 months would not take full charge and were sent back to Ziro,as it was the the end of the season they were not used till this season the problem was still the same. I was unable to get any sence out of Zyro and was intending to go to trading standards. I purchased a replacement battery from my LBS who let me have it for cost. My LBS managed to squeese half the cost from Ziro. I decided I didn't want the trouble of goilg to T/S and accepted. I can't fault the lights but in future I would try to buy similar quality lights or any other product for that matter from a different supplier and not Ziro. Over £1000 spent in on lights in three years is not good value for money.

Stadiums where 84watts or something HUGE BULBS's and battery and ballasts aswell, so to be expected.
Still wouldn't spend twice as much for a eddison as I did on mine for much less run time personally, and comparing the 2 bugger all in it really.

Like i said before the Lupine is the dogs balls LOL @ me!

The Supa-Nova PC99D or whatever it's called must piss all over the Edison 5 as well, but it weighs a fair bit more.
|
 |
It probably does. I better buy one of those then.

I have had my Edison 5 for about 2 years. It's so simple to deal with because of the smart charger and Li-ion battery. The battery had a period this winter, where it´s wouldn't burn as long as it used to, but some how it got over it and now burns as long as when I bought it. This is what you would call german quality.

Having two bulbs could be considered cheating, of course ;-)

Edison 5 all the burn time I need in a nice light pack.. Great to have Hi & Low beam too.
So yes best light so far.

Alright Mike, you pedant, but theoretically, each lamp is brighter anyway, so it should be brighter anyway.

I have the Edison 4, I can't fault them burn time is good enough for most rides, the size and weight is fantastic. I got mine from Aire Valley Cycles excellent service and a demo set.

Got an Edison 4 virtually half price from Royals at the Shropshire 24Hr this year. Fantastic performance and weighs next to nothing. Charger went awol but was replaced under warrenty. Overall well pleased though.

Amend my last post. Must be the unluckiest person. Went to Cannock the other night and they failed before we left the pub car park!!!!! You can imagine how amused I was. On their way back again to be repaired. Just hope they are back for Christmas Welsh riding otherwise I get a Mr. Grumpy outift for Chrimbo.

Lupine reliability has gone to pot lately, they're great lights, but a huge proportion come back faulty. Mine go out when I hit a bump, I have to zip tie the connectors to the frame!

 I agree with Nick.
Whilst whizzing down on a moderately fast downhill (approx 26mph) at night in the middle of a dark wood I encountered a small drop off which was no problem, except when I landed the Edison 4 suddenly cut out, pitching me into total darkness. As you can imagine this gave me a mild heart attack and in sheer reactive panic mode I yanked on the anchors. With both front and rear brakes fully locked up, with me as a passenger on borad with no vision, I was fully braced and quietly squeeling inside in readyness for a BIG CRASH..........fortunately I came to a halt without hitting any trees or going down a ditch and could live to tell the tale.
Having returned home and after managing to replace my heart that had earlier jumped out of my chest, I sent an email to Lupine describing my experience and asked if this was normal or weather I had a problem with my light, but to date not a single reply, despite the fact that this could have been very very serious.
Frankly I am not impressed with this burrying of the head in the sand and somewhat arrogant attitude by Lupine, having scrimped and saved the extra hundred pennies and denied Timmy a turkey at Christmas so I could purchase the holy grail of Night Light kits, thus my recommendation would be to get a light that you can rely on, from a company that cares about it's products and the health & safety of the people who rely on the performance 100%.

Which setting did it happen in? High or low? I also had a problem with the light turning itself off in the low beam setting. I sent it off to Lupine and they found out that the problem was with some wiring that had come undone. They repaired it and included a Syntace switch bar mount for free all within four days.
To be honest though Darren there are a million things that could have been the reason why the light cut out which is probably why you haven't heard from Lupine. Sent it back (via Zyro.....good luck there too...) and see what they say when they have the light in their hands.

 Hi daftpunk,
It was in High Beam setting and although this is an Edison 4, it was only it's 3rd time out as I picked it up from Chain Reaction Cycles who were shifting all their 'out of date kit'.
I'll give Zyro a go as suggested.
Cheers.
