"Versatility" is the keyword for Santa Cruz's 6.5in travel Nomad - it's meant to do it all. We test it

I did'nt like it at first but now I think its rather beautiful.

The best things always grow on you don't you know.

it's odd, the moment i saw the early pics of the nomad i was in agreement, i didn't like the look at all - i prefer a nice straight toptube

however, that all changed when i saw one up close and personal and got to take it for a spin - i actually like the look of it now, defo a grower i think. and the ride, wow what can i say, a test ride is a must

that thing didn't get beaten by the fugly stick, it is the fugly stick

...doesn't stop me wanting one though

I'm getting mine back tomorrow. Taking a week off work to try to get used to it.

Hmm.

Hmm.

I've been advised to try one whilst looking at Nicolais, but it's still hmm.

I should really like it, but... Well. Hmm, really.

That toptube just looks like it's designed to tackle your tackle.

It was beaten by the ugly stick and then the guy with the ugly stick ran it over as he left!!!

And the test model doesn't have a do it all fork. Pace don't want people hucking on that fork AFAIK. I wouldn't even want to d/h on that fork to many times !!!

I'm not convinced by the idea of a lightweight 150mm fork with QR dropouts, I must say. Still, it went off a couple of reasonable drops OK ;-)

Looks much better in real life but I don't buy a bike because of looks,

I am loving mine - the best, most fun bike I've ever had,

I love it too...
Aren't the 20mm Bolt Through Paces out yet ?? that'll stiffen them up abit.

Oh I don't know its got a certain 'je ne sais quoi'. I wouldn't mind giving one a go, wouldn't mind having the cash to afford one too.

Oh and why won't anyone recomend me a spring/summer waterproof jacket?

I want one - but then I like fugly things!

It is not ugly.
(Remember the Tomac 6-Shooter I used to have? Now _that_ was *uuuurgleeee*.)

I want one too.
Though I'm coming from the perspective of someone who's been riding a 40lb Bullit with Super T's, 2.5" DH tyres and tubes, and very slack angles.
(And doing 400m climbs for breakfast.)

Had a test ride on the Intense 6.6 though.
And hated it. Urgh, nasty. Angles were too steep. It's an XC bike for people with too much money and no skill. After considering it lustworthy for so long it sends a shiver down my spine. And this from the company that made the Uzzi. Insane.

Hi Gary, how's tricks?

Yeah the 6shooter was an ugly brute. Suited you though ;)
Show/hide user stats
I realy wanted one in shiny silver with blue hope components, but that weld on the top tube ....Nasty.
Show/hide user stats
haha
I think its rather a thing of beauty
Show/hide user stats
Its ugly, too ugly for me. Each to their own....
Show/hide user stats
That really summed it up in the article. It does look like the ugly stick wouldn't touch it on grounds of its uncleanliness, but when you see one being ridden they definatly look gucci.

I REALLY want one! After I win the lottery though......
