That rear mech looks pretty cool... Anyone know how much it weighs?

Fork lockout?

Yeah, it's the lockout lever for a Manitou R7 fork. Which was completlely useless as I had to ram it right up against the shifter clamp to fit it all on the bars, so it wouldn't actually lock ;-)

What's wrong with that? ;-)

Probably less than your current mech.

and a littl bit more than Shimano claim :-)

Mmmm nice: I'm still running a 2003 XTR rear mech with no problems, so I don't think I need to change it just yet...

The three year warranty will have run out on your current mech though...

With the number of Deore derailleurs I can buy for the same cost as an XTR, the XTR would have to last at least a decade based on the way my Deore derailleurs run for about 3 years before they need replacing - not having a crash that breaks the derailleur in that much time would be serious luck...

"Shimano's recommended combination is Low Normal mechs with DC levers"

Is there a disadvantage if I choose to do the opposite? I like Rapid Rise but I want 07 pods. I'm using Avid J7's so DC's aren't an option.

Will I lose some functionality with the pods?

Or, do I have to go along with what the Big S dictates?

Thanks for any info.
