Marin Quake AL-7
Marin's previously wheels-on-the-ground ethos has been shaken up by designer Jon Whyte's trip to Whistler and other freeride venues. The Quake is the result - we test it in the Alps

I've got one.
It is nice, and I'd agree with the review.

This is not a Nomad/Reign style long travel all-mountain thing, it is a mini DH bike that happens to pedal extremely well.

I'm 5'10" and got one in small (15.5").
Any larger than me and you'll prolly want the larger 17.5" one.

In fact, with people like Cedric Gracia preferring 7" of travel on their DH bikes, it could be quite realistic to argue that (with a 7" triple fork) this is a brilliant UK DH bike.

ps: I have pedalled it back up the hill many times already.

Ditto Hobo.

I would want one... but its too free-ridey for me. Despite my head trying to find reasons why i need one... i know that the Wolf Ridge is better for my sort of riding.

Yes, it is ugly.
But then so is your missus, and you ride her without complaining.

If my missus looked like that I'd be giving my optician a good slapping.

are you a muppet why marin????????? there is so much other stuff out there go experiment!!! mmmm kinky >>>>>>>>

Are you accusing me of being a muppet?

Are you accusing Marin of being crap?

Either way you're onto a losing argument I'm afraid.

I chose this bike because I know EXACTLY what I wanted in a bike, and the Marin is one of the few bikes that actually fill that niche.

ie: I wanted a really slack-angled freeride bike with only 6.5" or 7" of travel.

Iron Horse 7point would have been good, but they're still not all that slack. And I already have a nice abuse-ready XC bike thanks.

Since you seem to have based your muppet allegation on the fact that the bike has "Marin" written on it, I can only assume that you are in fact closer to being a brand-name-snob than you realise.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

Neeh, neeh...

I remember when marin's were cool just because they had teflon paint with day-glo coloured brand lettering. Them were the days, jumpers for goalposts, i remember when this were all just fields etc etc

I think it looks freakin cool and want to try one out.

PMSL!

Touchey!

And I want a shrubbery!

Judging by the beard on Shepleg's avatar, i'd have thought he was prime Marin owner material
PMJ - you shall have a shrubery - you just need to stop trimming the bush and hey presto!!!!!
