Uplift safety concerns still not resolved
Seven months on, and Innerleithen's suspended uplift services still haven't been reinstated. But things could be moving in the right direction, according to the local press

It seems this is affecting all ares of life.

But surely some sort of agreement can be made.
Ok I see the fact that up lifts in cattle trucks are maybe a bit unsafe. But if one is can be kept for bikes and some sort of 6 toner like the army use could be sourced for the riders. They may not have seat belts. But if they're good enought for squdees there good enough for me.
Do the powers that be expect tarmac roads with pillows on the sides incase you fall out of you crash proof bus.

Too much for me to take.
I wouldn't put it down to H&S in the initial problem i reckon its more down to the No Win No Fee claim the ar$e off anyone who hurts you culture. (hence a massive hike in public liability insurance) If you don't sue and for example the "cattle truck" rolls down an embankment crushing you to death your next of kin almost surely will. Or at the very least the driver or the operator/owner will be taken from behind by the HSE. Then the FC or land owner gets $hafted for allowing them to opperate on their land.

But if its all done "safely" (use an appropriate vehicle kept well maintained, supply a qualified driver (psv trained etc) supply risk assessments and safe working method statements) they will be able to get insurance but all this costs money and needs constant work (service costs etc) and ultimately costs a fecking fortune :-(

Thats how i see it although i could be wrong
thats a much clearer way of putting it.

I still I had to have a rant as it really anoys(sp?) me!!!
Put a little Sign which you have to step over :-

"Everyone that steps over this, is understanding they use this entirely at there own risk!! " SORTED.

Same on the space shuttle, airplanes, the lot!!

Dylan, thats the first time i have agreed with you in ages :-)

As Andy Said, Owt for Nowt brigade have ruined things for everyone. Have a shifty on STW, there isnt a day goes by without someone posting up about something asking wether they should sue. Sometimes it seems warrantied, others not. But it seems to be the automatic response these days and it includes bikers.
well said!

If only it was that simple!!

Theres only one thing for it; We need a chairlift. I bet a place like Glentress could afford a simple 2 seater chair from carpark to the mast, the amount of people who use the trails at moment is staggering, so it would easily get paid for. Might even open up the back valleys.
one slight problem with your idea though Dylan. You have to have a sign warning people not to trip over the sign that warns them of the risks etc.

Had a joke ish e-mail through recently.

On the Radio over summer, the council had taped off some trees cause of falling conkers and not wanting to get sued, they asked this one man there who said :-

" It's terrible we can't even walk under trees the worlds gone mad "
then they asked what would you do if a conker landed on your kids head?
" Well I'd have to Sue ofcourse "

They cut there, arrrrrrssssseeeeee
