It doesn't seem that long ago I was reading a similar presentation for TransWales. Sufficient water has now flowed under the bridge for me look back fondly on that week in Wales. I still don't know how or why I persisted with a broken knee but there's a certain satisfaction in having finished especially as keeping the knee mobile has probably saved me a lot of physio. It was only when I got back to France and tried to ride up my local hill that I realized how out of sorts I was. My kit has finally dried out and various rusty bearings have been replaced so I'm set for next year - maybe.

I was recently told that Pat Adams had the first offer to run this but turned it down as he was being asked to run the event on largely existing manmade trails within Galloway. He thought it would'nt work to his satisfaction [no doubt remembering his Coed Y Brenin event, which he didn't repeat] so he turned it down. His vision was to run it coast to coast.
