I used to live in Chester back in the day.
I bought my first proper mountain bike from Dave back in 1989. It was the year Shimano introduced rapid fire STI shifters. My Muddy Fox Courier comp had em. I felt like i was riding a bike from the future!
ahh those were the days!
Of course my S-works Epic is a far superior bike, and I now would vomit if I had to ride off road with a bright green bike with a foot long head stem. But at the time i loved that bike.

I've been in the new concept store a 'couple' of times, in fact every time we go to Chester I insist on stopping on the way back.
It is brill, they have the whole range in there from the cheapest child's bike up to the mega money pro racers, and they have a fair few demo bikes which it seems they will lend you to take away rather than just ride up and down the street, they all but offered me this the first time I went in.
The staff are dead enthusiastic too.
I can't really see the business sense in opening another shop right next door to your own, surely it is just doubling the overhead, and as the bike factory already have Specialized they can't double the sales, but it is definitely worth a visit if you are passing.

Wouldn't touch The Bike Factory with a barge pole. They tried to insist that Spesh didn't make a woman's Epic and that I was mistaken and perhaps I meant the Stumpy FSR instead. It really would be good if the people running the store actually had a clue about the product line. Other half was in there recently having a nose and said there weren't any high end bikes in. Think I'll use it as a guide for looking at Spesh stuff but defintely buy elsewhere from people who know what they're talking about.

In defence of Bike Factory, I recently bought two bikes from them and was very happy with the service, and the assistant who we dealt with was very knowlegable, nothing was too much trouble. I must admit they were not specialised they were Trek.

They wanted £30 to face a BB ready for HTII and said it would take 3 days!
Went to Alf's in Wrexham charged me a fiver, did it while I waited had a nice chat. Problem was I ended up buying a Fizik Gobi. Would have been cheaper to be ripped of by Bike Factory!

What is wrong with Specialized - well for a start you can't get the damn things!!! They bring ot fantastic top end bikes, but just try and get one ! Bike mags give them brilliant write ups, but there is no supply in Britain. They are like gold dust.
Don't know if it is a production problem but I've tried everywhere to get top end 2007 Enduro's ie the Carbon triple Crown job - but they don't exst. Maybe the bike mags were fantasising ??
