I'm sat in a hotel in Fort William with the World Cup PR guy - he tells me it'll be on BBC Scotland's Adventure Show, TransWorld Sport at some point, Sportsround (Newsround for sport, on the BBC on Saturday morning sometime). No transmission times yet, keep an eye on the schedules. The footage'll be syndicated all over the place, so keep your eyes open ;-)

Nice article, brought it right back to me after an extreme downer after coming home.
I've never experienced a moment like it when Peaty crossed the line. Brilliant weekend in every way, all the races were superb, can't wait for the Worlds in 2007.

From the BBC:

The BBC is set to launch its first ever sports news programme dedicated to children.

Sportsround will be a new addition to the Newsround portfolio and will be shown weekly on Saturdays at 11.45am on BBC ONE.

It will provide a comprehensive round-up of the stories behind the week's sporting headlines, preview big sporting events, run features on different sports and show viewers how they can become involved in sporting activities.

The programme will also focus on issues affecting sport and young people and feature grass roots reports by Sportsround's reporters - Adam Fleming, Ade Adepitan and Lizzie Greenwood.

There will also be reports from Press Packers - younger viewers who submit ideas for reports via the website and subsequently film them for the programme.

Sportsround will interview some of the biggest names in sport and kicks off with the man of the moment, scorer of Northern Ireland's winner over England, David Healy - who will feature in the first programme on Saturday 10 September.

CBBC Controller Alison Sharman said: "We know children love sport, but we haven't till now had a dedicated sports programme for them.

"Sportsround will break new ground, bringing some of the biggest sporting talent to young audiences, as well as getting kids more involved in taking part in sporting activity.

"I'm keen that sport becomes a central part of CBBC's output as it plays such a vital part in developing healthy lifestyles for our youngsters."

Sportsround will be presented by CBBC favourite Jake Humphrey, who is an extreme sports fan and a keen snowboarder.

Jake said: "I'm so excited to have the opportunity to present Sportsround. I'm sports mad and it really is a dream come true to land this job.

"I also think it's really important for children to get involved with sport as early as possible so they can learn about things like team work and discipline.

"And just as importantly, if children aren't playing sport now, where will we find the Freddie Flintoffs and Wayne Rooneys of the future?"

We seem in the UK to cover every sport (regardless of the % of the population that participates such as showjummping, and this weekend shinty, bowls, etc etc) but not cycling. I know its not what the majority of readers of this forum are into but a good example recently was the Tour of Britain (let alone Fort Bill). Anyone see any real coverage of that 5 day event? If it had been football even if only 10 people had turned out to watch you bet it would have been on live and probably on 2 or 3 channels. And why am I not surprised to hear the BBC guy mention finding the Wayne Rooney's of the future - the media in this country are obsessed with football at the expense of all sports, but mainly cycling, dispite fact we have World class competitors who regularly podium (unlike the Scottish and currently the English football teams). On the Weekend of the Fort Bill WC event I listened to the Scottish (Grampian region) TV news programmes in the (as it turned out vein) hope that the DH results would be announced, and guess what absolutely nothing. If we can't even cover our own home based events then what hope for the future of our sport.
Does anyone else agree that sport in this country is hoplessly biased towards football. And yes before anyone says it I do remember last years BBC Grandstand coverage of the Fort Bill event but while the pictures were great the commentary left a lot to be desired. In fact I bet the only reason it was covered in 2004 was because there probably wasn't any tiddly winks or morris dancing in Stow-on-the-Wold to be televised that day!!!
