So that'd make them 5 times better than my Deores? :)

It's boutique rather than Primark

pah, saints, half the price, double the weight, god knows how much stiffer

Probably not double the weight, TBH.
Nope - just replaced some other RF with Deore - per other threads on splines/BB problems etc etc

Yep Agree Sad price for well no noticeable real world gain, unless your a serious weight wennie.

But there must be alot of people with more sense than money for them to make that.

I suspect part of the reason for the high price is that they don't seel many so have to have a larger mark up over production costs to make them worth designing and manufacturing
Aiming at the Market where people like to look at there bikes and play the top trumps game on expensive kit.

Chainset and BB is a chainset and BB to me, hence deore and reliable UN73's here to.

Yawn, I hear the same record being played...
Says someone who likes, Fancy over priced Kit for the Bling Factor.

I'll take two :-)
I'm glad they get bought so that the manufacturers can pay for the R+D which over time allows cheaper products with similar features tio trickle down through the range

trickle down is good thing
Like people who buy new cars, if they didn't buy them and not mind losing 3K or whatever driving them off the forecourt then I'd never be able to buy them sub 1K.

( not that i'm suggesting I'll buy a set of these 2nd hand )

Blind tested (somehow) Mister P, do you really really think you could tell which chainset is fitted on the same bike compared to a Deore??

"trickle down is good thing"

Except when its down your leg and you are wearing light coloured trousers.

There is a market out there where people do want the best performance and are willing and able to pay for it. I don't have particularly bling stuff but I have the best performing equipment for my budget as I appreciate its function. Are you telling me that you don't ever treat yourself to something a little bit "bling" because you can or want to? Even something as simple as a bottle of mineral water instead of tap water?

mmmm, new thread, which mineral water for the Peak district....

I wish I could stick within my budget :-/

Never happens you start off with say £1500 for a bike, then you see something just a bit more expensive say £1700 so you consider that then you think 'well if I just replace that then I'll the perfect bike' and before you know it your budget starts shooting up. I think there must be a calculation where you can add a certain percentage onto your original budget in order to find out how much your really going to spend.

oh and of course your next bike HAS to be more expensive than your current...
