OK I know it's May and this isn't exactly a seasonal topic, however....

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of winter gloves? I cycle to work throughout the year in all weathers and so far I haven't found a pair that don't leave me numb from the wrist down when the temp. drops to zero and below.

I'm happy to fork out for them but don't want to waste my cash.

Any suggestions?
I got some specialised equinox when the weather turned cold this year - they say their rated to 7 degrees C but I was out in worse and never felt it, they are also light enough for warmer days - wore them in April when it was nearing 20. Dunno if you'd want to be in them much higher than that except for fall protection.

I have a pair of Equinoxes and a pair of Specialized Sub Zeroes. The Equinoxes are good for cool but dry weather and keep out the wind a reasonable bit too. They won't do you for sub-zero temperatures and they're a bit useless if it's properly wet, though.

On the other hand, the Sub Zeroes are unsurprisingly very good when it's really cold. They have a removeable fleece inner glove so they are good for quite a wide temperature range. The only thing I don't like about them is their lack of a Body Geometry palm-lump.

They are fairly expensive too but then I got them for Christmas. :-) I wore them while riding on some of the coldest nights this year (in town admittedly but it was still very cold) and my hands didn't get cold at all - in fact they ended up warming up!

I have an old pair of Cannondale fleece gloves that are fine for cool weather, and in the cold/wet winter I wear a pair of neoprene backed specialized gloves over the top of the fleece ones. The specialized ones can also be worn on their own on wet days. This combo covers everything but the occasional warm sunny day!
