W101: I've used these over the last 2 northern winters (and even parts of the summer) and although they are not 100% waterproof they do the job. Some will say the sole isn't too grippy but can't say I've noticed (I'm a mountaineer of old and know out to place my foot!). Good solid construction and easy to clean. Even though my feet are always cold (ask the wife!) I'm not one for wearing 2 pairs of socks so size accordingly.

I'll leave it to others about the other two.

Another vote for W101's, comfy and durable.

They keep my feet toasty and don't stop me riding in winter.

Cold feet suck.

W101: only had mine a short while, couple of test rides - toasty.

I bought my normal size and they fit me fine. Lots of people I know wear a size above their normal - I even know one chap who's gone up two sizes.

I bought some Northwave Celsius GTX in the summer sales, £73 and am chuffed to bits. very comfy etc. Not sure if i would pay £100 for them though!
Shimano are very good value.

I have recently recieved my Answer Kashmir winter boots from America and they blow shimano away in every department, cost inc shipping was about 80 quids. Rip off britain yet again.

Can't complain about the gearne polar competition boots I had all last winter. A great boot, although fitting is on the narrow side if you have a wide foot. They were getting use everyday commuting and general riding duties and seemed to have held out well.
I'd buy them again if I had to.

I have the 101's which keep your feet nice and warm. They are a bit small, I needed to go up a size. They are quite comfortable and I have done some long rides in them. The only problem is if you wear socks that go above the neopreen cuff at the top, basically your socks get wet and draw water down into your boots. That said I think the addition of some waterproof socks would create a decent winter set up.

W101's - 1 size too big, with an old pair of Pourelles in the winter.

Latest shimano boots can't remember no. are excellent, just hose down when youve finished when still on your feet! Def sorted probs with older model. Sole is very slippy and can't believe they can't take a stud but very easy to clean again. Anyway what do you want to walk for?
I got rid of my shimano winter boots because they let in waterm got gearne polars instead, way better :-)

have been using them for two winters without any problems

I would have agreed with Pete, that polar's are excellent, having bought a pair in Nov 04. At first at least, they were excellent, waterproof and warm.

However, the zips were rubbish. I found the started to fail to close properly. Which meant they where no longer warm and waterproof.

I might just have been unlucky, as I used these boots to commute every day through the winter, and theey were exposed to salt, grit and water relentlessly, plus the usual mud and grime of proper winter riding. In defence of the boot, I have found a lot of other stuff has the same problem when mud gets into the zip.

I've used a pair of SHIMANO MW02 for 2 months and they are fanastic better than the old 101's

Sloboy,
I got the Northwave celsius for Christmas.
I got one size too big (they are on the small side anyway) and wear a pair of sealskinz mid thermal socks with them.
I`ve posted on another thread that I really suffer with cold feet, but my feet have been toasty and dry on every ride with these boots. I also wear a pair of Aldi (I know,I know) waterproof cycling trousers (£6, yes £6!) which stop any water running down into the boots.
They also have a really deep, grippy sole, complete with two studs at the front, for those slippery uphill walks.
Buy with total confidence.

I use the Fahrenheit (the road version of the celcius) and they're awesome, always tend to wear in conjunction with a pair of DeFeet Woollie Boollie socks and (touch wood) never get cold feet. Definitely go up a size if you have narrow feet or wanna wear some thick socks underneath.

Agree with DJ 17, Northwaves are quality, no more cold feet.

I know of 2 people who have pulled the cuff clean off of the MW02's.

Had my Northwaves for 4 months now with no cold or wet feet. as Jason say's "quality".

I got Shimano boots and a pair of mid-length seal skinz for less than the cost of any of the alternatives and they're fine. Not totally waterproof but with the seal skinz it's not an issue.

I went 1 size too big and it's OK. If you went 2 sizes too big you could probably get sealskinz and a thermal walking sock in there as well which would help.

2 Mates have chilli zeros and the zips broke on them. Aside from that they seem to be a lighter and more waterproof product, but not worth the extra £35 or so IMO.

I've just bought myself a pair of the new Shimano MW02 winter boots which come with a Goretex lining.

First ride out and they are fantastic - highly recommended. Seem to cost around £90 but I found them for £82 from UK Bike Store:
