Hi kev, i took out the MC20 for a demo ride and loved it. my mate has the Mc50 and he is very happy, but i would wait for the discontinued 2007 MC20 cos its a bloody cracking bike and it costs £2.700 at the mo, but you will pick it up for i recon £1.800 soon when the stock has to be cleared for the 2008 bike. Kev I have the Scott MC20 and yes they are a cracking bike, fast as fook on the way up and not too shabby on the way down.  However just bear in mind the shock can be a little bit finicky to set up and the sizing can be a bit funny with standover height and top tube/stem length.

It is well worth it though, great piece of kit

As an alternative view: "the shock can be a little bit finicky to set up" is something of an understatement. Early examples were simply awful deflating regularly as the seals weren't up to the conditions they lived in just infront of the rear tyre. They've cured that but the seals are now so good stiction is an issue. That and trying to set up the air/damping. My mate has one and we've both twiddled the knobs to every combination but still failed to make it plush (bear in mind that the first time I rode it I had to ask him which way to move the bar-mounted lever to unlock the shock as it wasn't obvious from riding it).

If you like carbon hardtails and would like lots of levers and knobs to play with you'll love it.

I have one and love it!

As John suggests there may have been an issue with the early models. However, they offered a deal that if you service it with 12 months they extended the warranty to five years.

Its a big of a bitch to get set-up once its there it really is spot on. I ride 99% of the time in the Traction Control middle setting and rarely 'lock-out' the rear end. It doesn't unduely suffer 'bobbing' and I swear it accelerates when you flick it to 'all-travel' and hit the downs!

I think johns problem was that he couldnt set the remote lockout properly, the MC is as plush as a plush thing when set up properly which is why it needs the lock out, but get the suspension right, its only a +ve and -ve air chamber and its simpy brilliant, I did Cristalp on an MC10 this year and it was perfect, totally predictable on the descents with fantastic climbing either locked out on the road, or in traction control for the fire road climbs.

Just because somebody cant set the bike up dosent mean there is a problem with the bike.
