Sounds good to me. I've always fancied a TQ.

the great thing about being a roady is that you know that if you turn at lawnswood playing fields, opposite the entrance to boddington hall on the otley road, at 6.30 on any tuesday or thursday during the summer months you'll find a massive group of riders ready to go out for a ride.
To go out MTBing you have to arrange things and then drive places to get in a decent ride. It seems really inaccesable to me compared to road riding.

I know i shouldn't rise to it but........
Perhaps as mountain bikers we feel the need to inject a little variety into our lives ? Perhaps we are not afraid of change ? Perhaps we enjoy all that Leeds and the surround countryside has to offer the cyclist and don't just restrict our selves to the same old routes/roads ?
Just a thought.

I know I should n't rise to it either but........
If meeting at Boddington Hall on a Tuesday and Thursday is THE great thing about road riding then there are not many MTB'ers that will want to swap to the dark side:-)
lol Yup, I find the struggle of mountain biking makes it more fun :-)
Who's going to this trailquest thingy tonight then? I am! I'm aiming to get there for 6ish. Anyone want to meet up?
I can't make it to this, but I'm trying to put a route together around Harden (near Bingley) for maybe next week, if anyone's interested.
Shame you can't make it. Good idea about Bingley - there's some *very* entertaining riding round there - I was there on sunday and did this route: http://www.singletrackworld.com/article.php?sid=19
A damn good route, but with a proper lung buster at the start.
Took me 1 hour 40 mins going fast...
I've just had a look at that link - it's similar, but going the other way round covering some - but not all - of that route; I'll hopefully be riding it on Friday after the footie (got the day off!)

I'm not trying to irritate anyone, just have a bit of conversation.
I just find that having a group to go out with after work at a set time and a set place is really convenient. Especially after work when I'm pushed for time.
OK, doing the same route is boring but it's the chance to ride in a group of other riders that is the good thing.
I can go out, have a chat with some other riders, have a good workout and be back and showered by 8:30.
At weekends I can obviously arrange to meet up with certain people and we can go further afield. Which is great too.
I just think that when I get a mountain bike (which will be as soon as someone is willing to start paying me a decent slary) I would like to know that every wednesday, for instance, I can go along to Chevin Car park at 6:30 and there will be a group of riders there waiting to have a good ride, with none of the hassle of sending group e-mails back and forth trying to find out who can make it, where and at what time.
I'm not saying the roady model is perfect, far from it, I'm just saying that the rides would be a lot less exclusive (more people=more fun) if you had a set meeting place and time.
You can always organise rides further away around these rides.
Just a thought....

There is a trailquest at Harden next wednesday if anyone is interested - 2 hours and really good fun.
Its run by the same group as running the event at chevin tonight
Anyone know where tonights trailquest starts from ?
According to Julian Thomas it starts at the 'The Royalty' pub at the top of the Chevin.
If it does then it's a fair way from Harewood House that it claims to be using the bridleways round ! I'll come up to the Royalty and have a look.
Cheers.
Hmmm... I'm confused! I was just gonna turn up at harewood house. I might go via the royalty then.
mark - you have mail
 Hurrah, confusion reigns supreme !
I'll turn up at the Royalty anyway as i fancy a pint. Quite why they couldn't put the start location on the web beats me.
Bugger it then - meet at the Royalty:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=420500&y=444000&z=3&sv=420500,444000&st=4&tl=Grid+Location+420500,444000&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf
6.15-6.30.
If the trail quest is there it's there. If it's not we can do a ride anyway! Everybody's happy :-)
I'll be there. If the sun continues shining it's a half hour spin and back to the beer for me.
It is starting from the Royalty - I have e-talked with the organiser. starts between 18:00 & 19:00
Have fun
Unfortunately I would love to do the trail quest but I am baby sitting (complicated story) but yet another boring 40mins on turbo trainer. If any of you guys fancy a ride around skipton bolton abbey way this saturday then pleas let me know.
What did you think of the TQ - and how did you do?
