I'd join you but I'm on call & short of carrying my laptop around North Leeds' finest trails, just in case there's a dire business emergency, I'm stuck holding a phone that may never ring
I promised a load of pages ago to sort out a date for the Leeds 50.
Have come up with Sat 23/08/08!
I know this is the Bank Holiday weekend so if there are a lot of people who want to do it but cannot because of the date it could be changed to Sat 13/09/08 - please post up if you would prefer the 13th (there is no chance I'll be doing twice!)
So for the time being at least date is 23/08/08 starting as previous years from The New Inn at Eccup at 09:00.
It's a 50 mile (give or take a few - well you will probably have to give a couple) circumnavigation taking in: -
Cookridge Horsfoth Rawdon Apperley Bridge Pudsey Churwell Rothwell Kippax Garforth Barwick Thorner Harwood & back to Eccup (I have PDF maps or Memory Map route file if anybody wants to see the route)
Climbing is done in the first half of the ride. The riding is not hard just on the long side.
Last year we took just short of 9 hours including pit stops.
11 riders, 8 finished but 3 had only planned to do half anyway.
Post up if you are coming!
John H - can you put this on the NLMTB web site too please.
I'm planning on coming to the Lord Darcy tomorrow night...but then I have said that sort of thing many times over the last few months...thin is, I also have to cook a curry tomorrow night.
Not sure about Leeds 50...but may do either date. Prob Sept is better for me though. Btw I only planned on doing half the ride last year, but ended up doing the whole thing! Ooh what fun. It was a very steady 9 hours I'd say.
Cannot decide if lights will be needed - will depend on cloud cover and if we are in the woods at the end of the ride (haven't sorted a route yet). Think I'm going to bring mine in my back pack. If needed and you haven't got any - you should be OK riding with someone who has.

You can join any evening you like - just turn up and ride.
Don't think anybody who lives in York rides with NLMTB, but I will be coming over from York after work today. Could give you and your bike a lift over at 5 - 5:30 but cannot get you back there - which is not much use unless you fancy a 25 mile road ride after the main event!
If you are coming in the car there is plenty of parking space in The Darcy
Andy OnOne are you out tonight? do you still want that handlebar? i'm coming out tonight but will probably ride from my house. will bring the handlebar if you post before i leave.

Stu, Mick, soz I've been away a few days - yes great, we'll enter D2D then - let's just give it a few days to see if a fourth member want's to join us - otherwise we'll enter as three.
It'll be great (touch wood) - never had bad weather there yet, Oct normally more reliable than Jun/July...
