Nettles pah, they just give you a nice tingle; it's the brambles you should worry about Foot feels like it should be ok

David - yes, that's the one

nettles v brambles! - we normally aim to have a fair mix of both. All good masochistic fun.

I'm going to have to pass on tonight's ride Foot ok now but medicine has unpleasant side effects involving my digestive system...

 |
Ric B, your Brake rebuild kit has arrived - at last, For all your info, the bike park at thackley is seriously good fun, just been riding the tabletops and doubles its a lot of fun

I didn't know if it was open yet. What's the best (easiest) way to find it?

Cracking ride last night Rob, really fast feeling trails. How about Dalby sunday after next (12th) ?
|
 |
Will your Dalby ride be suitable for the not so experienced?! jane

Yeah, cracking ride Rob. I particularly loved the nettles. they're keeping me warm today. July 12th for Dalby is free in my diary but will have to run it by the boss/ childminder. what sort of time are we thinking of leaving/ returning. early start is best for me.

11th & 12th you can even trash someone elses bike instead 'cos there's a demo thing going on. . Jane, Dalby red isn't especially technical, and you should be fine with the terrain, but there isn't much level ground there, always up or down - this could poss be a bit draining for a newby if you do the full length (20 odd mile). However it's easy to break it into smaller sections, and there's always a good waymarked fire road escape route back to the start. I'm not sure what our schedule is for the next few weeks, but if Gill could go then she knows some of short-cuts and links, could maybe ride with her. Just an idea, I haven't consulted her yet, plus we may be busy on the 12th. There are also easier blue & green routes, but I gather they're mostly fire road - depends how you feel about fire road really ; )

Thackley is mint, and I have already learned how to "float" the bike and "nose" the landings There's still lots of digging to do, but the main dozen ramps are all working well. Best way is from the canal straight up the road from the sewage works, alternatively, its next to Idle Cricket and Rugby clubs Check out Singletraction.org.uk

Cheers Ed - I'll swing by next week.

nettled... thistled... brambled... knackered... think that sums up my first outing!!!! really enjoyed it though...thanks for waiting at the top of all the hills for me guys (and girl ) hope i didn't slow you up too much and just following you lot down some of those slopes helped my confidence in tackling terrain i'd usually walk/push round so i should get there slowly but surely... don't think i'll be up for a trip to Dalby yet but i'll definately be coming again next Thursday (note to self...buy some full finger gloves as brambles at bar height bloody hurt the knuckles!!!!)

You should see my legs after last Thursday's brambles. And spud moments. And chainrings...

ok Dalby on the 12th is looking good, start visitor centre? 10:00? 11:00?? anyone else fancy it? Our Gill is thinking of doing a shorter version of the red if anyone doesn't fancy doing the full loop.

Nice ride in the dales yesterday. Buckden area with a double crossing of Firth Fell and Horse Head. The top section of Horse Head has been given a makeover. No more negotiating through bogs, deep ruts and deadend gullies. It's all rideable now but still lots of interesting bits More here
