Loverly ride last night and a cracking pint! I didn't realise the nights were drawing in so much though, must take lights next time!

Yep, a nice night to be out and about. And a good turnout of 10 riders too.

Watkins, Not sure if its of interest but I got one these. http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/mountain_bike_lights_review_led.html Cheap and bright. Its a bit heavy for a helmet lighting and you have to customise the straps to fit your bars. The only other down side is you have to have a paypal account and order em' from Hong Kong, which takes 10-14 days if you choose free postage. Also might be worth askin' round someone may have some lights to sell!

or you could DIY a bit of household waste pipe, some electrical bits from Maplin, a 7.2V or higher battery & associated charger, and one halogen bulb for each lamp unit you make. Plus some bits to fasten it all to either your bike or yourself.

Darren: Here's a rather poor quality photo of old Sconce. Roughly where the children are standing is where we were when I said this used to be a village.

cool pic Granville - you had a camera as a kid too ; ) . lights; another option ... same emitter as Bommer's, but bike specific mount, remote battery pack and charger all included. Much talk of these on the bike forums, still a new thing - only time will tell if they live up to the hype. Much as I like my largely home built set-up - I think It'll be pretty hard to build anything comparable for less than those DX lights. Halogen bulbs cheap & plenty bright enough, but needs pretty expensive batts to power 'em.

Is everything still on for tomorrow? Meet @ 10am
|

yup all systems go. In fact we're heading off now & camping the night, so's we can have a lazy start to the morn.
|
 |
Good, shall see you in the morning then.

TBH I wasn't that impressed with the Yorkshire Glory - a tad bland IMO. Like John Smiths on a good day.
I've had Copper Dragon Golden Pippin from a bottle, which is nice; I'll have to go back & try some on draught.

That was the fastest lap of the red at Dalby I have ever done. I'm a bit stiff today, I'm glad the ladies made it back OK. Was there some sort of mechanical?
|
 |
sound like you all had fun at Dalby...maybe i'll try and come next time regarding the lights...thanks bommer & Rob for the links...i'm just a little apprehensive about going for something new and 'unproven' (don't want to waste my hard earned cash) although the reviews seem to be positive. Can't decide whether to risk it or spend a bit more and get something with a proven track record... i'd like to have a look at your unit (bommer) just to see what it's like...

omg...just spent lunch-time browsing the internet looking for lights...the choice is scary!!!!

Lumicycle twin halogen setup for about £150 - tried & tested, plenty bright enough and excellent customer service should snything go wrong.
Other systems are available.
I have a Hope twin LED system that isn't cheap if you go for the 'endurance' option. This is my third system and I'm very pleased with it. But I could use another for on my noggin
|
 |
I can also recommend Lumicycle, I have run the twin halogen for years without any major problem's, fancy the new 4 LED but £199 per lamp, I'm in N Leeds if you want to try.
