And they managed to replace the busted forks with V-brake ones instead of disc brake. Not impressed. Woodrup cycles on the other hand (Kirkstall Rd.) were ace when I went to get a load of stuff there - adjusted brakes and h-bars for nothing, just coz I bought some bits and bobs. Evans take note.

Pity I can't make tomorrow night Ric, I quite fancy the swithbacks of doom even if it's only to look at them! Hoping to service my forks before thursdays ride. I have just down loaded the manual fro them so will have a go tonight.

Evans update... Someone in charge rang me, apologised, fixed the rear mech today and have replaced the awful stock forks for RockShox as a good will gesture, so I should be out Thurs! Maybe they have a spy on this forum... Good on them. Well redeemed Evans.

In the interest of karma; I recently ordered a replacement shock bolt from the aforementioned kirkstall road shop (as they are a local Specialized dealer). After two weeks waiting for it to turn up (after they said it would take a couple of days) I gave up and cancelled the order. What really narked me was that they never called to let me know about the delays and when I called them I got nothing more than vagary. Won't be rushing back.

Been a while since I rode from the Woodside so can we have a clicky linky thingy? I'm swine flu free now so I'm looking forward to riding tomorrow. Cheers Badger

Am also intrigued by the Switchbacks of Doom but can't make it tomorrow night either. Hope to see you all on thursday night.

 What time at Woodside, Ric?
Dan, thats shocking service from your local Spec dealer. You should have contacted Specialized UK, when I have dealt with them in the past I have always found them very helpful.
I had really good service from evans the last time I bought from there. Sometimes it's just bad luck. I don't think evans are doing too well at present as they've started price matching for the first time ever
7.30 start from the woodside. And for the benefit of certain invidivuals who may be coming that means we start riding at 7.30, not start adjusting fork pressures at 7.30 ;-p

David i use the Bicycle shop in Skipton Spec dealer.Couple of really good lads Stuart/Oliver may be a bit far for you to travel though.
Worked out ok in the end as I got a steel replacement from Dan @ BETD for less than half the £25 that spec' wanted for an ali version. Not so likely to over torque it this time . Hope to make it down to Woodside this evening.

.jpg) Hi Guys, Are any of you ever persuaded to ride on the road?? We are holding a challenge event 100m or 100km route from Horsforth on the 30th August. It's a team challenge with Disco, BBQ camping etc afterwards. Looking for new teams to join us and its North Leeds after all!!!! Let me know if you are easily persuaded Gin

Ginny, There might be a few on here who have an supressed unhealthy and sordid liking for riding the black stuff, that they hide and are mildly ashamed of and desperately try to ignore... but secretly, deep down they know its what they really want! Look carefully and you can spot them... some of us admit we are skinny tyred-currious but thats just a loose carefree normality, its the ones who vehmently insist that they only do fat tyred stuff that you have to watch. Bike shops are the best place to spot them.... the slighly loud over insterest in peaked helmets, mud clearance and baggy shorts to show their hairy (unshaven) legged manliness. The desperate attempts to pretend that there isn't another 1/2 of the shop thats tempting them.... but in their minds,... oh deep down in there they're mentally running their hands over the sensuouse curves of that slinky rubber, fixated by the feel of the smooth carbon! Then there are those who openly lust after all bikes and will ride anything with wheels and rubber on it... the unashamed bike whores! ;-) I think I'm probably in the bike whore catagory so send me some details!
In general I love a good bike whore, in fact the name has been attributed to me at times!!! I even persuaded my hot sweaty tarmac hating, gnarly rocky trail loving mate to enter the Dawn Till Dusk and now she has actually been into a bike shop and (shock horror) willingly looked at those beautiful specimens of road hogging skininess! All the details of this finest of Leeds events can be found on http://dawntillduskchallenge100.org.uk and for any really deep bits of info you know where to find me!!! Come and play on the road... you know you want to!!!! Gin
