Sorry, that's the Shoulder of Mutton on Otley Road, Baildon - I've got some finishing touches to do this w/e but it'll be ready by Tuesday.

Getting there - take the A65 through Guiseley to Harry Ramsden's then follow the Shipley signs. Drop down Hollins hill, there's a petrol station on the left at the bottom, then the pub is about 100m on the right

HI JOHN,
WHAT SORT OF RIDE DO YOU HAVE IN MIND, HAVEN'T BEEN OUT FOR A FEW WEEKS, RECOVERING FROM A BIT OF MINOR SURGERY TO ARM. ARE LIGHTS REQUIRED?.

Andy

hopefully no lights required, if we start at say 6.45 we should be back before it gets dark; I always have a rear light anyway, and usually my front (commuter) light. It's not much cop in the woods, but on the roads the cars can see me (I hope!)

The plan is Baildon - Buck Wood, Thackley - Apperley Bridge - Spring Wood - Guiseley - Menston - Hawksworth & back down Sconce Lane to Baildon. Should be about 15 miles, finishing on a fast downhill this time!

I've just ridden the route today & it's quite boggy in places - Sealskinz or Porelle Drys are highly recommended!

It's about 15 miles & should take about 2 hours (less for whippets...)
Hi Guys,
I don't think I can make it tonight - sorry. A f**king house alarm across the road was going off all last night so I only got ~2 hours sleep. Need rest.
Plus I said I'd take the g/f out for a pootle...
Anyways, have a good ride - the trails should be drying up a bit now :-)

is this place easy to find - I'll be comming from pudsey / stanningley way?

Chris

From Pudsey, go north round the ring road towards Rodley; take the A657 left to Shipley from Rodley roundabout (should take you through Calverley, Thackley, about 15 mins), then go under the railway bridge & past McDonalds in Shipley. take the next right - signposted Otley/Baildon & stay on this road for about 2 miles. You should pass The New Inn on your left & the Halfway House on your right, more or less opposite each other; the Shoulder of Mutton is the next pub on the left after these 2, opposite Esholt Lane. If you start climbing up Hollins Hill, you've gone too far. If you get lost, I'm on 07940 124457...

Sounds good to me...
I should be up for it too...
How was the mud factor last night?
Show/hide user stats
extremely muddy, and wet - it was great. got plenty of strange looks as i went around asda afterwards!!!
Show/hide user stats
Grin factor outweighed the mud/water factor by a long chalk though.

I should be up for next week as well.
Isn't that always the way...
Mud is fun! (apart from washing it off of course)
