Jules - leeds 50 sounds like a plan to me. My summer is mostly taken up with weddings but I might be able to make the August date (wedding on the sunday but only in Manchester)

Also - does anyone have an 8sp shimano shifter they don't need? I want to put disc brakes on the Mrs' bike but it came with those horrible combination shifter/gear lever things. Thanks

Specialised hardrock: advertised as 'disc brake ready'. It is providing I buy new wheels and shifters!

It's a long rod thing that you fish around the bottom of the leg with - if it's just a superlong Allen key, and I knew the size - I could maybe bodge something up...

If anyone is interested, I have a 19" monitor (old style CRT) going free. Was top of the range when I bought it and it's still in perfect working order. Free - just stick a couple of quick in a charity box.

have always used the SS and I've never known any part that wasn't rideable. Doubt I'd be any quicker with gears, but if you can pull big ratios on the fireroads, a cog-nudging system may help I suppose.

So whatever you fancy at the time really, no team rules or 'owt - it's all just for fun : )
