Anybody apart from me loves to get out early, before the crowds, have 5 or 6 hours on the bike and be home for lunch? Or is it just me who's mad? If you're up for 7 o'clock starts in Lancashire area, I'm waiting in the car park.
i must be mad too i love to ride early sat or sunday mornings where abouts do you ride ? what type of riding you into ? i live in blackpool but like to travel about a bit terry
Hi Terry I live in Garstang, not too far from B/pool. I do road riding or off road, anything from 20 odd miles to 100. Ride around the Fylde - Pilling etc or Trough of Bowland, Beacon Fell, anywhere in fact. Must warn you though I'm an old git -51 but fit as a butcher. (Or was that his dog?)
hi mike i only ride off road im 39 but probably not as fit as you i ride at gisburn forest, rivington and delameer also been to coed once but im looking for new places to try
Hi Mike & Terry I ride off road mainly Dales or on road Ribble valley/ Forest of Bowland/Pendle. I like to go out early Sun mornings or Sat afternoons. I'm a fairly fit 42. Usually cover 20 or 30 odd miles, though 100 sounds a bit much for me. Could do with some riding companions as I always ride alone. Live Clitheroe area but I can travel.
Gisburn Forest sounds good to me, never tried it yet (only started off road a year ago, after a lifetime of just road riding) I'm working nights next weekend but the Sunday after I'm free that's the 14th. Not too far from Clitheroe Graham. Never know we could get our own early riser club going?
I'm on for the 14th. Name your time & I'll meet you in the Cocklet Hill car park, grid ref. SD745550. I'll be on a white/blue Rockhopper. The red route at Gisburn is about 11 miles. On a different note, Worsthorne near Burnley has some brilliant bridleways if your interested. Can you join us, Terry?
I think we're on the same car park. It is the one on the right before you drop down to the dam, after you've turned left at the crossroads with the phone box. It has the route maps on information boards & I think is the official start/finish. 7 o'clock is fine by me - look forward to it - see you on the 14th.
yes graham that sounds like the car park im thinking of mike as we are both traveling from blackpool area do you fancy car shareing ive got 2 bike racks on my car
Hi Guys let me know how you go on at Gisburn. As an alternative you could always join in with the Woollybacks. tomorrow we are doing the Wearnside round starting from Ingelbourgh car park at about 10.30ish or alternitifly meet us at Charnock Richards sevices at 9.00am, new riders are always welcome. its more fun in a group. tele 07761759283
Cheers Terry, well enjoyed this morning good ride & good weather. Do not know what happended to Mike maybe he can join us next time. Mario, would be interested to join your group sometime, I love trail riding in the Yorkshire Dales.
Check out www.nationaltrail.co.uk & go to Pennine Bridalway/Mary Townley loop. 42 miles mostly off road - I have ridden the Northern half & it was excellent. Let me know if anyone is up for it, time, date, etc. Looks like a brilliant ride.
hi graham i also enjoyed the ride 42 miles sounds a bit much for me just yet but i was thinking about trying around dunsop bridge in the trough of bowland this sunday it looks good on the map do you fancy it? anybody else want to come along?
I've been doing a bit of research on the loop. I've managed to get hold of some free maps of the route, altough OS maps would be handy. It is possible to follow the route just by the signposts according to the people on Singletrackworld.
Can't make Sunday, Terry - I'm on a do Saturday night. Where are you thinking of going from Dunsop? I'm thinking of doing MT loop early Saturday. Interested?
