Famous Bongo with FC trailer.

Graham Fielding, I'm B.A.Nana on STW, reading back through these posts,  I'm very concerned that you say Tilhill were very unhappy about my post on STW re Longridge Fell. I'm not that bothered about Tilhill, but I'm very concerned about the implications on Martin Colledge at  Gisburn. Terry will maybe back me up on this, but Martin was quite open about it all and didn't, at the time, say it was priveleged info and not for general consumption. I'm interested to know how you came about your info. re Tilhill being unhappy at my post on STW? you don't have to quote names, but I might have to say I'm very sorry to Martin Colledge next time I see him.

and i dont care about the garden

Nice Bike Tezzer, welcome to the Dark Side, did you buy it new or off Fleabay?

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few weeks been laid off with the lurgy / flu, started back on the cycle commute yesterday.

As for kit Terry I take with me:-

  1. Spare inner tube
  2. Puncture repair kit (patches & glue)
  3. Tyre levers
  4. Multi tool from years ago
  5. Blackburn Mini Pump

On the Early Riser's road ride yeh I'd be up for that, perhaps the Trough Of Bowland circular or something similar (it's around 36miles), nice comfortable route with a cafe stop midpoint at Dunsop Bridge, be good to meet-up and have a natter after so long.

As for yer 50th bash I doub't I could afford it at the moment Fizzer, I am absolutely brassic and it will only improve later next year...

No worries mate sorry to hear you're up against it. Let's arrange a road ride then?

As for Tilhill I'm not prepared to discuss where it came from sorry.

Hey this is becoming a dark side thread! Nice one Tes - I'm up for a road ride anytime.

Martin - Did you do the tour of the peak? It was very tough. I did the 100 mile route in the rain and wind (nearly 12000 feet of climbing) - climbing Holme Moss into the teeth of a gale was NOT fun and nor was two blow outs. The first going down into Holmefirth destroyed my rear tyre - luckily the support car was only a few minutes behind and gave me a spare and fitted it for me . The second puncture was in the dark and rain with approx 10 to go at which point I was on my knees and gratefully accepted an offer from the van for a lift. I can safely say that it was the toughest ride I have ever done by some distance. So the ton eluded me and will have to wait for another day ; 90 was my limit on saturday.

Sys - the trough of Bowland sounds fab thats an area I'd love to do on the road bike. I've got my new Michelin Krylion carbon tyres from CRC tonight to replace the blown out Kenda.

Off to Gisburn tomorrow; what is the best trail to try?

ok Graham, I was just a bit curious, but I don't doubt what you say. I'll face the music with Martin at some point over the next few weeks and do my apology. Obviously I can't reverse that STW post now,  unfortunately.

It's really slippy upo there at the moment, I can see some sections being closed. A fella in a group I rode with yesterday ended up upside down in a bog off the boardwalk section seconds after my front end went flying. The rollercoaster is really badly eroded, loads of breaking bumps and deep muddy ruts all the way down it. I know MTB isn't safe but it's bloody treacherous now. The bermed section through the woods near the end of the old red is a right mess. Most of the berms don't exist anymore, they're more like mud walls. Surfaced areas for the most part are fine but some of the best bits are knackered.

OMG what's happened? I know the new bits in the woods were in a bit of a state when we were last up but that's real bad news with the roller coaster. Also I've never had any issue with grip on the boarded sections, in fact I'd go as far as to say it is the grippiest wooded section I've ever ridden.

Bet there's not much erosion on our high lines round the big walls

3 of us (me Terry & Willy) run Hope Led 4. Absolutely brilliant light & run time. I have mine on the bars & a Hope Led 2 on the lid. Gaz uses Hope Led 2 & USE Exposure though you need his input on that. Not sure what Ben is running.

Good lights don't come cheap, mate

But they make your winter so much more enjoyable

I love winter night rides. The cold, the wet, the comaradrie, the whisky oh yes, getting back to a warm pub at the end of a gruelling ride after pissing on your mate's rear mech 'cos it's frozen - that's what winter night rides are all about.

Hope you can join us soon pal.

G

I use a bunch of taiwanese torchs, cheap but reasonably efective just need to do a little modding however there is apparently a bike version of the torches i use now for about 50 quid. Will post more info when I get home from work.

I basically run a less powerful and torch version of this. I'll probably get one myself and then use my current torch on me head. I run one of these on me bars and then 2 of these, on me lid! HOwever finding the right spot for the helmet lights is key since last night my breath was getting in the way and I couldn't see shit so I'll perch them higher up!
